Smm? m The Elites, a service club, is one of the busiest organizations on campus. Organized in 1979 by Mrs. B. The Egalitarians President Miller successfully guided the Egalitarians through the year. Mr. Leroy Wesley, Club sponsor, initiated the idea to establish an organization to pro¬ mote school spirit, scholarship and qualities of finer manhood. 78 A group of junior and senior male students with the motto “Asserting academic equality” came together each month to plan and carry out projects to promote school spirit, academic excellence and community service. With their sister organization, THE ELITES, they sponsored several projects during the year. Service projects included Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner to needy families in the community and quarterly recognition of students in each class for academic honors. 1985 EGALITARIANS Left to Right: John Lawson, Anthony Wilson, Herman Collins, Roy Gipson, Derrick Spears. Better known as the “Angels,” the Ad Staff worked diligently throughout the year and made a strong contribution to Green Oaks. Under the sponsorship of Mrs. Deloris Bennett, the girls worked during the summer to sell community advertising. They also participated in pep rallies and spirit programs during the football season.
