Who’s Who At Green Oaks The students selected for Who’s Who are chosen on the basis of membership in clubs, offices held, grade point average, recom¬ mendations by teachers, high school ac¬ complishments and general discipline and decorum. Close Up Participants Each year a group of students venture to Washington, D.C. to get a bird’s eye view of the American Political process. Pictured are this years participants Sharon Taylor, Angelette Armstrong and Wendell McCoy. Mrs. Lueburda Myers is the group’s sponsor. Quiz Bowl ’85 Each year Green Oaks is invited to par¬ ticipate in the Centenary College-Fabsteel Quiz Bowl. Winners and runners-up are awarded scholarships. The Future Homemakers of America and the Home Economic Related Occupations Class com¬ bine their efforts into what is known around Green Oaks as the FHA HERO Club. Combining sewing, cooking, nutrition, and social development, these young people prepare for adulthood. Of¬ ficers are: Milton Miller, Cheryl Lilly, Randy Smith, Ms. Rosetta Boone—Sponsor, Patrice Johnson, Sandra Green, and Rhonda Robin¬ son. Mu Alpha Theta Mu Alpha Theta is a club whose main purpose is to stimulate interest in mathematics by providing public recogni¬ tion of superior mathematical scholarship, and by promoting various mathematical activities. The members are (standing 1 to r) Angela Hopkins, Gabriel Harvey, Daniel Jones, Stephen Hardman, Vickie Smith, (seated 1 to r) Carol Smith, Althea Bagley, Carolyn Scott, and Phyllis Boykins. The sponsor of this club is Ms. Jackie Strong. Key Club The Key Club at Green Oaks was chartered in March 1973. Since then many outstan¬ ding projects undertaken by the club have proven beneficial to the school and com¬ munity. Under the capable leadership of President Randy Smith and Hayes Gipson, Sponsor, the young men have planned a major Clean Community Campaign and a Teacher of the Month project.
