Assistant Principals Make Use Of Time Mr. John Baldwin, Assistant Principal of Instruction, shows Mr. Hunt, Assistant Principal of Administration, talks with Mrs. Thibodeaux a passage in the book he has just read. Mr. Tom James, Principal of Green Oaks High School, arrives at work in time to in¬ spect the school plant before the faculty and students arrive for a day of work and study. Mr. James puts forth effort to raise academic standards and to build school spirit and pride. Signing papers, writing letters, completing forms and writing teacher evaluations are all a part of his day at Green Oaks. Mr. James obtained his B.A. from Southern University and his M.A. from Prairie View A M University. Principal Mr. Tom James GREENLEAF Editor, Victoria Beard and Stu¬ dent Council President, Tunya Harper discuss the activity schedule with Mr. James. One of his major responsibilities is to assist in the smooth operation of the many activities the student body is involved in.

Junior-Sophomore Counselor, Mrs. Bobbie Kendricks; Senior Counselor, Mr. Nathaniel Harvey; and Freshman Counselor, Mrs. Pearl White take time for a break from their usual problem solv¬ ing sessions with students to discuss plans for National Career Guidance Week. During the week they will provide additional career guidance information to the students. The counselors spend a great deal of time counseling students as they plan for the future. They help with admission forms for college and vocational school as well as the military. Some choose the work world after high school and the counselors help there too. Above, Mr. Harvey and Phyllis ex¬ amine her transcript as he points out how her grades and credits are averaged for graduation. Mrs. White makes a call seeking assistance from one of the many referral agencies available for the students. Denise Williams gets some advice on the courses she must enroll in for next semester from Mrs. Kendricks. Our Problem Solvers
