— The 1985 Greenleaf Shreveport, Louisiana Victoria Beard, Editor-In Chief Paulette Washington, Photographer Tunya Harper, Assistant Editor Randy Smith, Typist Ben Brown, Sports Editor Primette Braden, Copy Editor Time goes on endlessly. For seniors, stu¬ dent life at Green Oaks is ending, but the hard work and the fun will always be remembered. Standing, below are Monica Williams and Jacqueline Spearman. Seated are Shelia Mitchell, Crystal Marshall and Jacqueline Ellis who are all active in COE. In the left photo, Anna Washington, Dwight Dotie, Lloyd Giles, and Anthony Rainey plan menus in a food and nutrition class. Every student should inevitably visit the library dur¬ ing his high school career. Doris Barfield takes time to pose for a photo before she begins her research. “The Magnificent Four” can be found in many places, performing a variety of tasks, but in the picture above, Eddie Williams, Delaware Kelly, Tyrone Jones, and Steven Hopkins are just posing and taking it easy. Super Seniors Play... In the bottom photo, KTAL-TV, Channel 6 interviewed a panel of students who responded to the topic, “Is the media biased in reporting news concerning school incidents?” The participants were an interviewer from the news staff at Channel 6, Carl Haynes, Ramona Henderson, and Yolanda Mason. In the left photo, Gabriel Harvey has found a quiet place to catch up on some reading. Some members of the football team show their versatility as they become cheerleaders for a day. Members of the squad are (1 to r) “The Unseen ’ Davell Jackson. Jimmy Phillips, Carlos Thomas, Roderick Harris, Chris Morris, and John Alexander. Dependable Mr. Harris prepares trophies, plaques and awards for Green Oaks’ annual Awards Day. The Seniors hope to receive their fair share. But They Study, Too! In the left photo, Mrs. Maxie assists Edward “Bo” Robertson, Richard Bell, and Tyrone Ellis as they study for final exams. Below, Shewonner Armstrong and Veronica Allen take a break from their intensive studying. Mr. Gipson and Carey Washington make final preparations for the publication of the school’s foot¬ ball programs. The juniors in the band let you know how much fun they are having, but they also let you know how boring it becomes once performing and play¬ ing stop. Hard Work Yields In the left photo, the junior class just would not live up to its name if it didn’t have three stiffs, Willie Williams, James Jackson, and Alvin Griffin, stand against the wall and look like they are posing for mug shots. (Below) It’s no use to act, if you can’t do it right. For Aleshia Thompson and Angela Roberson, acting in speech and drama just isn’t enough. They took it to the stage as they portray “Two Old Hags’’ on a talent show. These juniors were honored for maintaining at least a B average. They are what you might call the “cream of the crop. It just goes to show that hard work has its own rewards. Tunya Harper and Ben Brown can always be depended on to help out in emergencies. Ben concentrates on writing copy for the yearbook as Tunya comes in from running errands. Many Rewards Sophomores can be found engaged in numerous activities. An example is Mr. Carley’s metals class. In the right photo, Demetrious Mitchell, David Jones, Ronald Carrol, William Kennedy, and Martin Ran¬ dall wait for their teacher to give them their instructions for the hour. The sophomore class is led by all females who really get the job done. Class meetings are conducted orderly and expeditiously. In the bottom left photo, Primette Braden and Paulette Washington prove that student life is not just a time for fun. Hard work is just as important as having fun. In the above photo, the induction ceremonies of the National Honor Society is a major event at Green Oaks. These students not only maintained a 3.3 grade point average, but they also represented the faculty and student body in many school and com¬ munity activities.
