Some band members—Rosalyn Jordan, Christella Williams, Paula Lewis, Jake Davenport, Broderick Gantt, Letha Johnson and Vincent Monroe—strike a pose as they show two of the instruments that are essential to the band. The Mighty GOHS Band The band, under the direction of Mr. Albert Jackson, came together in August, one month before the opening of school to begin preparations for a very active year. The vigorous exercises, practices, and discipline paid off. The band gave outstanding half-time and pre-game shows and performed in many festivals and parades. In the “Battle of the Bands” contest held in Monroe, Green Oaks won se¬ cond place. After the football season, the band participates in many music festivals.

Orchestra And Choir The Green Oaks Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Lorenzo Jewell Green, Alvin Morgan, Rosie Williams. Sharon Green, Williams performs many times during the year. Members are: Denise Williams, Jackie Thomas, Olevia Fisher. Crystal Crawford, Gregory Turner, and Malvin Murff. Mr. Albert Jackson directs the choir in performances on and off campus. Members take part in many festivals.
