No Real Obstacles Talk about your all-around stu- dent! Senior, Sue Cielens, fits per- fectly into that category. Sue competes on both the school swim team, and a private gymnastics team. She also sings with Images, and is a member of National Honor Society! If you haven't recognized who Sue Cielens is by now, here's a hint: She's the only student in the school who needs a cane to find her way. Sue Cielens has been blind since birth, but despite her handicap, she has become an ac- tive student and is a terrific per- son. Another special student at G.M. is Danny Gelston. You may have seen him cruising through the halls in his special walker. Danny has cerebral palsey, which means that he doesn't have a lot of muscle control in his hands to write, Danny uses a special stick, which can be attached to his head, to type on a computer. Besides just doing homework on the com- puter, he has also recently begun doing artwork on his computer! Danny is a fascinating person with many talents in spite of his handi- cap and some because of it.
