M.A.S.H. With all eyes upon them, the cast of this year's fall play M 'A 'S 'I-I carried off not only one but three outstanding performances to the credit of director Bud Simmons. Matt Armbruster in the lead role of Hawkeye Pierce and Frank Parr as Trapper John made their characters come alive as did an incredibly strong supporting cast consisting in part of: Beth Bates, Kari Wycoff, Chris and Nate Starkey, Kim Greeno, Dmitry Chernyak, Eric McPhee, Eric Yarnell, Karen Bates, Kristi Kollotzi, Tony O'Donnell, Darren Goad, Tony Rodasta and many others who performed skillful- ly and professionally. However, while the show was so incredibly well acted, it had some minor technical problems opening night, including a fire on the stage. During the opening sequence, there were flash pots out in front of the stage hidden in the cattails. When set off, an overload of powder caused the cattails to catch fire. It blazed up about six feet be- fore Jim Starkey put it out with a fire extinguisher. Not one person on stage moved during the whole inci- dent including Eric McPhee who was only ten feet away when it hap- pened. They were truly professional through it all. Then in the second act the scrim, a filmy curtain that is used for silhouettes, got caught on some lights and tore. At the end, though, the cast and crew got a well deserved round of applause from the im- pressed crowd. Afterwards, the cast went to Denny's and celebrated, looking forward to two more nights of productions. 202 -- Fall Play Kristen Schultz speaks out. Darren Goad cozies up to Kristi Collotzi

M.A.S.H. Everything went smoothly right up through closing night, which was the night the cast gave it everything they had.The excellence of these produc- tions, though, did not come without hard work and lots of it. Everyone made sacrifices. Rehearmls went from three to five, four days a week for two and a half months before the production, night rehearsals were from seven to nine. That adds up to alot of dedication. Bud Simmons 204 - Fall Play took no excuses. He was a harsh task master and outstanding director. He made the cast give more than they ever had, and that was the reason for the perfection the show achieved. In the relatively short time, they learned to work together, the cast became friends, and then, a family instead of just a group of strangers who had been thrown together. That is true ability!
