N.H.s. If you are a senior or a junior in your second semester, and have a 3.5 GPA or better, are involved with community and outside activities, you may have what it takes to be a National Honor Society member. National Honor Society is an or- ganization that gets its members in- volved with several different activi- ties. Besides being a service organi- zation, NHS is also involved with community and school events as well. This year NHS was involved with the blood drive held on Febru- ary 14th. The most memorable events this year however, were the party at the Children's Hospital and Christmas caroling. Students are invited to try out for NHS and do so by filling out an application. Each students is re- quired to tell of their activities both in and out of school and their contri- butions to the community. The appli- cations are then reviewed by a panel selected by Mrs. Couture. The stu- dents are then chosen for NHS by the panel. This year's officers for National Honor Society wereas follows: Terry Bonzer - President, Jow Kubitschek - Vice President, Jodi Mead - Secre- tary, and Cathy Traugott - Treasur- er. The sponsor for NHS was Mrs. Couture. Students are encouraged to strive for good grades and to become in- volved with activities not only to be- come a member of NHS, but also to become a well-rounded person. 'QE 'UW U? Government Club l Who is going to lead our coun- try in the future? That is question being asked by young and old alike. Well, we think we have an answer. If their many activities are any indication, those leaders will probably come from the Green Mountain Government Club. The club was involved with a variety of things including 3 days spent at our state capital in a mock legislature. Some members of the club also traveled to Wash- ington D.C. for a week in March for an intensive study of foreign policy, domestic policy, lawmak- ing, and a bit of sight seeing with people from around the country. With a background like this, a fu- ture president may have been a Green Mountain graduate. The Green Mountain students involved in the Close Up trip were: Jill Gagnon, Karin Bates, Amy Young, Carol Lehman, Kel- ley Kress, Richard Jeffers, Kim Myers, and Miss Caroline Rosno. Waiting for the meeting to start. ruairag Tim Ellis, nice outfit. Past and future leaders. gr-.wi im! Mrs. Gunther Mrs. Faith Gunther, besides being a so- cial studies teacher for many years at Green Mountain and other Jefferson County schools, is also the head sponsor for the Government Club. She is also in- volved in the school through her children, Guy, who graduated last year, and Mauri, her sophomore daughter. 114 - Government Club
