floor. We were happy to work and develop our abilities there. One month before school closed Mr. Tunstall was married and Mrs. Reba Eatmon replaced him as our instructor. We were sorry to see him go but happy to see Mrs. Eatmon. To our sheer joy, as we returned to school we were members of the freshman class. We went around with our heads in the clouds, meeting our instructors, Mrs. Cleo Baucom, Mrs. Reba Eatmon, Mr. Carlyle Castlebury and Mr. C. E. Cashatt. We went to work about the middle of the second month and tried to redeem our first month's grades. After this we came down out of the clouds and things got back to normal. The fact that a variety of subjects was offered caused us to split into various classes, but we were all still the NFresh Froshn until vacation time. When we returned in the fall it was to start anew our attempts to make the various varsities. The clubs were composed largely of sophmores, freshman, and a very few juniors This was our first attempt at competetive athletics. When we took time to look around we saw a new face on the faculty, Mr. Warren, the agriculture teacher, who also directed the boy's basketball team. On the whole, we found this to be a very successful year. As we return to school for our junior year, we see two new teachers, Mrs. Roy Yates and Mr. Carl McDuffie. Mrs. Yates was in charge of our English, Mr. McDuffie guided our agriculture courses. This year we found we had more liberties and less need for restrictions. To a certain extent we were better pupils. When the Christmas holidays passed, we began to work for our junior-senior banquet. It carried out the Robin Hood theme and was directed by Mrs. Marshall Eeams, to whom we owe our thanks forever. As if by magic as we reassemble here in the dear old halls of Green Hope we find this is our last school year. This is the last chance we shall ever have to learn the things that we may receive here. Mr. Pobert Day is filling the place left by Mrs. Baucom who was with us so long. As we look back over the years we will find many sniffles when we hear memories ring through these dear old halls. And yet we know we take the best it can give with us. Jimmy Byrd Class Historian 18
