L i.f .SQ QM DEDICATION We dedicate this yearbook to a woman who has touched us all with her warmth and humor and has never failed to be there for us when we needed a hug, a smile, or an occasional push. She has served as an example to each of us, both through her genuine care for the school community and through her active humanitarianism. We respect her for her ideals, love her for her humor, and appreciate her for the countless things she has done for us. We thank you, Mrs. Van Acker, and we love you. APPRECIATION Never before has anyone made such a posi- tive impact on our school so quickly. Your en- thusiasm, both in the classroom and on the playing field, inspires us all, and we are amazed to find ourselves as excited about history as you are. You are a talented coach, a gifted teacher, and a special person. We thank you, Mr. Weiss, and we hope you never forget your first U. S. History class. SPECIAL RECOGNITIOP Greens Frms Academy is a special place because of the special people who work here. In spite of incessant requests for supplies, schedules, or copies, you greet us with a pleasant smile and genuine willingness to help. Thank you, Mrs. An- derson, Mrs. Doyle, Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Ke- plesky, and Mrs. Rice, for a cheerful dedi- cation and sincere interest that makes you an integral part of the G.EA. family. My parrot had a heart attack and I had to take him to a specialist. I was up until 1 AM doing the assignment for your class. I was so tired that I couldnit get up for class this morn- ing. I won't be in class because I'm going to the Bahamas. I'll only be gone for a few days. I'm sorry but it couldn't be helped. I missed class because I had to report to my parole officer. I won't be in class because Iim drunk. My little dog is being operated on and I,m going to stay drunk until I know sheis going to be all right. I had my paper ready to hand in today but last night my cat had kittens on it. I was on my way to school to turn in my paper when the wheel came off my car. I had to stop and couldn't get here on time. I don't have my paper ready because I was writing it by the pool and the wind blew it into the water and all the ink washed off and I don't remember what I wrote. I'll need a few more days. I missed the exam because I was on active duty last weekend and I fell out of a helicopter. I wasn't here for the exam because I had to take my garbage to the dump. On the way to class I realized I had lost the heel to my shoe at the dump. I went back to the dump and spent 2 hours looking for my heel. I cannot take the exam this morning because I just got a call from the highway patrol telling me that my horse was grazing on the median strip of the highway. I have to return the horse to the corral right now or I will get a ticket. I will not be here for the exam because I saw the sun come up this morning and it was white and that means Jesus is coming next weekend and if that happens, there's no reason to take the test. I missed the exam because I shot myself. I am a security guard at a warehouse and I pulled my gun because I heard a noise. I accidentally fired it and it ricocheted off the wall and hit me in the shoulder. I won't be able to take the exam because I have to report to jail to start serving my sentence for armed robbery. I was bitten by a squirrel. Unless I find the squirrel that bit me, I will have to take rabies shots. I have gone to the park to find the squirrel. I am an Existentialist who believes that we live with no excuses. That is my excuse. My grandmother really did die this time. - Helen Twigg and Roberta Vandermast 74 N- THE SCENE IS SET NEWS '85-'86 TERRORISM It is no longer somebody else's problem. From London to Cairo, terrorism was the headline story of the year. Many Americans were forced to abandon plans for travel abroad this year as department store bombings, airline hijackings, and shipboard sieges became a commonplace occurrence. The use of terrorism became an official gov- ernment policy in countries such as Libya. We've begun to learn that terrorists, those who have nothing to lose, are the ones to fear. The struggle for freedom should be something more than a contest between their terrorists and our terrorists. - Representative Gerry E. Studds QD.-Mass.J Hello, my dearest wife. I am 0. I was lying withfour orjivefriends in a row but I was the only one picked. fHef looked at me without expression and shot a burst at me. - Mario Orellana, 22-year-old student, after a terrorist attack on a San Salvador cafe that killed 13, including four U.S. Marines. Maybe it's time to stay home. I tell you, as far as I'm concerned there are crazies walking around and normal people can't cope with them. - Achille Lauro passenger Anita Rosenthal. 77 The plight of the Ethiopians drew the world together in an efort to relieve hunger as groups such as Live Aid and USA for Africa raised millions for the cause. ATHLETIC HONORS SOCIETY M 1 fi .1 Rx 'Q Heather Thompson, Lissa Feldman. Although we lost many seniors from last year's team, we had a very successful season. We soon developed a strong, unified team and ended the season with a win- ning record of 9-7. We would like to thank Mr. Weiss for a great year, we couldn't have done as well without him. Good luck to next year's team, and thanks to everybody who cheered us on. -Diane Noonan and Tim Kipp, captains VARSITY SOCCER First Row: Thomas Hornsyld, Peter Wickersham, Daniel Tower, Diane Noonan Ccaptainj, Mike Costello, Lee Isenstein, Stefan Rosen, Neal Seideman, John Pytte, Chris Havard.
