FACULTY O PLANS FOR a tuture dramatic production hold the interest of Mr. George Klim, Miss Evelyn Baxter, Mrs. Mary Tovo, Mr. Earl Karasak and Mr. William Couchenour. Educators Guide Students In Forming Goals, Ideals 3 Besides instructing regular classes, many faculty members ot Latrobe High School also participated in supervising e x t r a - curricular activities. Miss Martha Osborne-, who enlightened English III and IV students, served as advisor to the Class of 1958. She also coached the Kiwanis Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. The Iunior Class advisor, Mr. Harold Bitner, instruct- ed the Chemistry classes. With his other acti- vities, he served as chairman of the Prom Committee. Students of Biology gained knowledge in this subject from Miss Virginia Daniels, who served as Sophomore Class advisor, General Science instructor, Mr. Harry Graham guided the Freshman Class. In addition, he took care of the Audio-Visual Aids, Moving-up Day and the Projectionists' Club. During this, his final year of teaching, Mr. Mars Dovey instructed English IV pupils. For WEEKLY ENGLISH reports are the problems of Ierry Limber, Bernie Novak and Sam Lawson. DEMONSTRATING THE use ot a tire extinguisher in General Science class is Stanley Kurek.

v I O SUPERINTENDENT DAVID A. Snyder signs his ap- O PLANNING A successful year is the chief objective proval of school requisitions. of Principal Robert Crawford. Heading the staff that insures Latrobe High School's proper functioning is Mr. David A. Snyder, Superintendent of Public Schools, In approving text books, Work books and other materials for the school use, Mr. Snyder works with Mr. Robert Crawford, principal of the secondary school. During the year, numbered in Mr. Craw- ford's duties are- making out the school calendar of activities, approving exams and heading the faculty. The principal and the superintendent often confer with the School Board in approv- ing school procedures, new t e a c h e r s and supplies. Assisting Mr. Crawford are two secretar- ies, Mrs. Betsy Tillman and Miss Barbara Kuhn. These two, with Miss Ruth I. Himler, serving as secretary to the School Board, and Miss Arlene McCracken, assisting the superinten- dent, aid in keeping school records in order, type exams, compile schedules and perform many other duties. Post School Hours Afford Opportunity For Advancement the past 18 years he has coached the senior ora- tions and the commencement speakers. Mr. William Couchenour, teacher of English II, III, Iournalism I and II, served as advisor to the school publications, The High Post and the Latrobean. Miss Irene Mertz, English III instructor, coached the Wornen's Club Contest finalists. Miss Evelyn Baxter, head of the Dramatics De- partment, taught pupils interested in Spanish II, French I and French II. Assisting the- dramatics coach were Miss O HOME ECONOMICS teachers Mrs. Martha Seamens, Mrs. Katharine Stumbaugh and Mrs. Grace Kettering enact a tea for the benefit ot Homemaking students. lean Dibb and Mrs. Mary Tovo. The former instructed English II and the latter, English I and French I. English I teacher, Miss Louanne Love, aid- cd with the Class Day program. Mr. Michael Ilizzo, who instructed Trade English I and II, was a member of the Prom Committee. Coaching the cheerleaders were Mr. Wiley Hartman and Miss Barbara Hansel. Mr. Hartman taught World and American History and Guid- ance while Miss Hansel instructed English I and Algebra I students. I DEMONSTRATING THE touch method to Mr. Harold Stover and Mr. Robert Cook is Miss Blanche Quick. Typing and Shorthand instructor.
