SAYS FAREWELL After serving the Latrobe Public School edu- cation program for thirty-four years, one of l.atrobe's most outstanding men says farewell. Dr. Iohn G. Hulton finishes his career at the end of this school term. Many students bene- fited from his fine work as Superintendent of Schools. Some knew him only as a busy import- ant mang many as a friend. Students, teachers, friends and business associates know that his work here in Latrobe is not without acknowl- edgement and appreciation. Before serving as superintendent, Dr. Hulton was a teacher and principal in Latrobe High. In his first year, he instructed students in Laiin, Algebra, civics and also taught science. Two years later, Dr. Hulton received the posi- tion of principal of the high school and served at this post for seven years. Following this, Dr. Hulton was made Super- intendent of Schools and rendered his services in the position for a period of twenty-five years. Along with serving as superintendent, Dr. Hul- ton is a member of the Pennsylvania State Edu- cation Association. He was also elected as president of the Department of Administration. The Education of Dr. Hulton was received in three different colleges. He attended Franklin College for four years, graduating with a Bach- elor of Arts degree, at the University of Pitts- burgh he earned his Masters degree. Conclud- ing his education, Dr. Hulton obtained his Doc- tor of Laws degree at St. Vincent College. Although a very busy man, Dr. Hulton takes time out for his several hobbies. Prominent among these are reading biographies and play- ing golf. Presiding behind the desk in the Administration Building Dr. Hulton was always ready to take time out to lend people a helping hand. His resignation becomes effective on lune 30, l954. Dr. Hulton has no definite plans for the future.
