Shepherd COURSE DESCRIPTION The student will cover the aspects of practical metallurgy from the point of view ol' the technician and the technicians concentration with practical matters, with enough theoretical material added to clarify important points, Beginning with a survey of the three important areas of metallurgy-Aprocess metallurgy, mechanical metallurgy, and physical metallurgy, the student proceeds to deal with the technique of metallography, temperature measurement and control, various techniques used in heat treatment, followed by testing of materials using mechanical and analytical techniques. The areas of vacuum metallurgy, powder metallurgy and ceramics will also be dealt with in keeping up to date with new metallurgical developments. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Because of the research and develop- QQ? ment program in the field of metals, thejob opportunities as metallurgical technicians are expected to increase in the years to come as the importance of metallurgy con- tinue to grow. COURSE DESCRIPTION The Medical Laboratory Technician's Assistant program provides experience in the processes, methods. and use of equipment common to medical laboratories. Emphasis is placed on chemistry, mathematics, scientilic procedure. and related technical information. After completing 2 years at Vo-Tech the student will have an opportunity to enter the I4 month program at a local hospital. Upon acceptance and completion of the program at the hospital, students will be eligible to take the test for National Certified Lab Technician Assistant licensing. COURSE DESCRIPTION The students study merchandising and economics ol' distribution. ln the junior year, the student reveives classroom instruction in merchandising which covers such areas as salesmanship, buying, credit, advertising, display, sales promotion. and customer service. ln the Senior year, the program consists ol' classroom instruction in distribution which covers such topics as cash register operation, insurance and taxes, business ethics. business law. and administration. The on-the-job experience portion of this program provides an opportunity for student employment in local wholesale and retail establishments. One year ol' this training is a cooperative-work program whereby the students attend school part time and work part time in retail storesg thus they are better able to apply the principles of business. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Due to the development of large shopping centers and the increase in retail sales, opportunities will be excellent in this tield.
