DAVID SHATZER COURSE DESCRIPTION Draftsmen will translate the ideas, rough sketches, specifi- cations and calculations of engineers, architects, and designers into complete working drawings which are used by the skilled craftsmen in the manufacture of the product. Draftsmen will make calculations conceming strength and cost of materials, also check dimensions of parts and their relationship to each other. Through their drawings and specifications they describe what materi- als and processes skilled craftsmen are to use on a particular job. Students will leam interpreta- tion and application of engineering symbols, mathematical formulas, tables. charts, and cata- logued engineering data and parts. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Draftsmen may specialize in a particular lield such as mechanical, electrical, electronic, aeronautical, structural and architectural drafting. COURSE DESCRIPTION Civil technicians assist engineers in the planning and construc- tion of highways, bridges, dams, etc. ln the planning stage he may help in estimatingoostsand in the preparing of specifications for materials or participate in surveying, drafting, detailing, or design work. On actual construction he may assist the contractor or superintendent in sched- uling construction activities or inspect the work for conformance with blueprints and specifica- tions. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Employment opportunities for the well-qualified technician are expected to expand in the future. COURSE DESCRIPTION Electrical Technology consists of an organization of subject matter and laboratory experiences designed to provide preparation in the development and testing ofelectrical circuits, devices and systems for generating electricity and the distribution and utilization of electrical power. These electrical systems incorporate and require knowledge about the ap- plication of electronic and instrumentation devices. LENGTH OF COURSE This is a one year program for l0th grade boys. At the end of grade I0 the boys will chose either the electronics technology or electrician course forthe remaining years of the program.
