COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed to train students who keep machines, mechanical equipment and physical structures of an establishment in good repair and working order thus performing a variety of maintenance duties. lt is geared to moderately train in the skilled trades rather than specialize in one trade or one type of maintenance work. Training in the reading of blue printing. carpentry, plumbing, electricity, cleaning. glazing. painting, tile replacement, lawn and shrub care. and record keeping will be accomplished. Students interested in becoming a supervisor of building maintenance will gain valuable training in his area. COURSE DESCRIPTION The Automotive Mechanics course provides the student with practical instruction in the diag- nosis, repair, and adjustments of all phases of automotive mechanics. The instruction covers the complete range of work on gaso- line engines. clutches, transmissions, differentials, front axle and wheel suspension, front-end alignment, steering mechanisms. brakes. carburetion, fuel and electrical systems. Special emphasis is given to trouble shooting, motor tune-up, and complete over- haul ot' engines by replacing rings, bearings, valves, gaskets, and other worn parts. After attaining sufficient skill, the student will be given the opportunity to repair automobiles. Since the automobile is a very complicated piece of machinery. much theoretical knowledge is involved, and he will have to read complicated parts manuals. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Successful participants in the auto mechanics course can look forward to joining the more than M million now employed in this industry.
