At this moment comes the realiza- tion that we are truly individuals and that the pages that compose the book of our life is filled with ingredients that we placed there. How will we deal with the future? Are we prepared to accept disappointment as well as success? How would I like people to feel about me and my efforts? These are questions that are real concerns even if they are not often verbal- ized. Perhaps an aid for those who are concerned are the four factors by which the late President John F. Kennedy asked to be measured. First, am I truly a man of courage — with the courage to stand up to one's enemies and the courage to stand up. when necessary, to one's associates — the courage to resist public pressure, as well as private greed.' Secondly, am I truly a man of judgment — with perceptive judgment of the future as well as the past — of my own mistakes as well as the mistakes of others — with wisdom to know what I do not know, and enough candor to admit it. Thirdly, am I truly a man of integrity — a man who will not run from the principles in which he believes or the people who believe in him. Finally, am I truly a man of dedication — with an honor mortgaged to no single individual or group, and compro- mised by no private obligation or aim, but devoted solely to serving my fellow man. Courage, judgment, integrity and dedication — on what better traits could each of us hope to be measured. Meet this challenge with vigor, enthusiasm and optimism. The world is less than perfect — but it is the best that any age has offered. It is yours.
