Pausing to Assist and Entertain With the hum of activities in Great Falls High School all the outside world is not quiet. We devote our extra time to the various campaigns around the city. Also, our young men belong to the National Guard, Army, Navy, and Marine Reserves. All of our extra time is not spent only in giving our services, but also in belonging to many organizations. The Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls have large mem- berships. ln addition to these organizations, students spend many weekends attending par- ties, games, and numerous other activities. And Singing in perettas . . . Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, the Senior Play, also directed by Miss Perry, is a fairy tale. Scherhezade, one of the King's wives, unrolls the story of Ali Baba, a poor wood cutter constantly naqqed by Goomps, his wife. The man- ner in which Ali Baba becomes wealthy is most extraordinary. He finds a rob- bers' cave and suddenly becomes rich. His brother, Khazzim, is killed while searching tor the cave and Ali Baba inherits this wealth also. Ali Baba is then discovered by the robber chief and owes his life to the resourcefulness of Morgana, the slave girl. ln gratitude for this service All Baba gives Morgana her freedom and permits her marriage to his son, Hassan, and everyone lives hap- pily ever after. Gilbert and Sullivan's sprightly satire on the aesthetic craze of the eighties, Patience, was presented for the pub- lic March 6-8, under the direction of Miss Ann Anderson, Miss Bonne Lu Perry and Mr. lack Sjostrom. The operetta centers around the love of Bunthorne and Grosvener, who are rivals for the milkmaid, Patience. A train of languid ladies and their former flames, the men and officers of the 35th Dragoon guards, complete the picture. Patience, having been told that love must be absolutely unselfish, rejects the perfect Grosvener and accepts the very imperfect Bunthorne. This defection of their idol drives the ladies to their mili- tary lovers. Because the arrival of Gros- vener has upset their plans, the mature Lady lane and Bunthorne concoct a curse to make Grosvener appear very commonplace Their plan however re coils and the ladies return to their Dra goons and Patience returns to Gros vener Bunthorne crushed decides to wed lane However the Duke enters and announces that he will marry lane Thus Bunthorne is reiected and no one becomes h1s bride ALI BABA CAST PATIENCE CAST Scheherazade Ianny Loy Ali Baba Harlan Harberson Hud Hud Martha Mee Ernestme Jacobs Foo Mee Ya Hassan Tom Grasseschi Moyana Donna Schumacher Bob Lindsey guz Euz Dave Hollecker ou oos Bul Bul Loretta Kolstead Robber Chief Larry Nelson I k W b Khazzim Ierry Polich Fencers Bill Cane Bill Lindsey Marvin Lindseth Dale Pahrman Doug McClure Colonel Calverly Mawr Murqatroyd Duke of Dunstable Reginald Bunthorne Bob Speer Ierry Polich Bill Warren Nona Stevens Donna Lou Osburn Kay Radcliffe Ieannette Ross Sheila Noble Archibald Grosvener Mr Bunthorne s Solicitor The Lady Angela The Lady Saphrr The Lady Ella Th L d l I w ' I I - - 1 1 ' 1 H H H H - . .. ,......,,, ..,,., . ,,,.,,,,,. ,,.. , a c e er e a y ane V V Toos .5 .....,,,, ..,. ......,,,.... ...... ....,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,. . , , , , , Bob Speer Patience, cr Dairy Maid ,,
