SUPERINTENDENT S MESSAGE During my first year in Great Falls I have been impressed by the friendli ness of students faculty and parents This attitude has been apparent despite the restraints and limitations imposed on normal school life by the war in which we are now engaged The year has been marked by a contraction of some of the customary school activlties but the essential values of high school education have all been retained On the other hand the war emergency has presented many new opportunities to high school students Most significantly these new a l1V1l1GS have made it possible for this generation of high school students to slcare directly 1n the h1gh adventure of preserving our American heritage Young people in our high schools today are participating directly in the war effort of the nation on all levels of government local state and national Never in all our country s history have high school students played such an important role in the economic civic and military functions of the nat1on This of our general democratic secondary educatlon as we have known it in this country for the past half century The war will change our secondary schools in fact such beginnings have already been made lt is the good fortune of the high school students of today to lead and part1c1pate in these pioneering efforts Congratulations to the Class of l943 and to the underclassmen of the Great Falls High School not only for their new found opportunities but more important for their serious ness in the assumption of new responsibilities MR HARRY BURKE PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE The several armed forces want you The business man wants you lndustry plans for your help and 11kew1se the ranchers and the stockmen Whether or not we shall again enioy the freedom we now ennoy or have enJoyed also depends upon you l recognize the potentialities and ab1l1t1es of the Class of 1943 and by like token the indefatigability The good Judgment to remain in school and the wlllingness to meet worldly challenges cannot be overlooked You are responsible Never let it be satd that you are not important God bl ss you through the present conflict and may we meet again MR ARMIN lAHR fl2 I national recognition of our high school youth brings out in full relief the value I l
