Back Row Bud Krrwm K nny Rogers lcaptal 1 lim Pay e Art Huttx ger Warren Roberts Fron Row Ted MCDO ald Walt Selakovxch B111 Reynolds lack Sloan B111 Polich Not Pictured Harold Driscoll TRACK SEASCN 1942 Coach Horn started out the 1942 season with only two varsity members Rodgers and Payne returning from the previous year s squad About one hundred boys turned out at the start of the season from which the seventeen which made up the track team were chosen On April 25 Great Falls held an invitational meet in which ten schools took part Great Falls won by defeating Havre 61 to 31 Fort Benton came 1n third w1th 10 113 points Next Great Falls attended the Northern Montana College Invitational Meet which was held at Havre on May 2 Twenty schools took part m this meet Agam Great Falls was successful in winning first place by defeating Havre 62 to 45 Fort Benton was thtrd with lllf points At th1s meet Kirwan was outstand1ng as high pomt man 1n the d1scus broad Jump high Jump tied for f1rst in the hurdles and took second place in the shot Our third meet was an invitational one at Helena on May 9 Butte won l1YSl place with 66 2X3 points Helena second place with 30 1X3 and Great Falls thlrd with 22 To climax the season, ten boys were chosen to go to Missoula on May 14 and 15 for the State Track meet. Missoula won for the fourth consecutive year. Great Falls placed fifth. Kirwan and Rodgers were the only two Great Falls contestants to win first place.
