GREAT FALLS HIGH SCHOOL URING the half a century which has passed since the Great Falls high school first senior class graduated, many changes have come about in the appearance of the school as well as in its curricular and extra curricular activities. Since there was some difficulty in getting the high school organized, the first school term started in October instead of September as has been the practice to the present time. Various buildings have been used for the high school. The Whittier school, built in 1886, was the first. This school was orig- inally built for the grades.

4 As the class of 1942 is the fiftieth one to graduate from a high school in Great Falls, we, the senior class, are attempting to bring back not only the pleasant and worthwhile experiences of our high school life, but also to review some of the memories of high school life during the past fifty years. During the half century many changes came about. The city grew in population, more schools were added, and clubs and sports were introduced. Y' .Q 'A 4 is 1 A L LONGFELLOW SCHOOL--THE SECOND HIGH SCHOOL OWEVER, in 1890, high school classes were begun on the top floor for the tour students, Gertrude Anderson, Lulu Armstrong, Maud McNeil, and Iosephine Trigg, who were the first students to graduate from a high school in Great Falls, entering as freshmen. The 'Whittier school building was shared with the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. This school was replaced by a new, modern structure in the same location in l933. During the Christmas vacation of l89l'92, the high school classes were transferred to the Longfellow school which had been recently erected at Ninth Street and Ninth Avenue South. Here again the building was shared with the grades,
