To the Students of Great Commission Schools - It is said that when Spain was one of the great world powers, upon her coinage was printed the image of the Pillars of Hercules, and under- neath were the words, Ne plus ultra -nothing beyond this. There was one man in that nation who refused to accept this. Urged on by the rest- lessness of his faith, he proved that an entire world, with unlimited treas- ure and wealth, lay beyond those pillars of Hercules. It has been well said that the essence of carnality is a static condi- tion, spiritual stagnation. There is no reason why any of us should not be world shaking characters, except that we are satisfied not to be. J. Stuart Holden tells of the epitaph of a Swiss Guide who lost his life in an Alpine accident. That epitaph reads, He died climbing . It is our prayers that God shall use Great Commission Schools to impart to you such faith-born aspiration that wherever your tombs may be, from the artic to the tropics, your only fitting epitaph may be He died climb- ing.
