Following the trail blazed for them in previous years, the student council strived to uphold the voice of student opinion. The student council is not student government, as in many schools, but serves in only an advisory capacity. Al- though they try to do much for the better- ment of the students , everything the council does depends upon the students them- selves. All home room and class presidents compose the student council, which en- deavors to work for the democratic in- terests of the students. The play is the story of a Spanish nobleman, Don Diego, who has lost all his money. An American millionaire, Mr. Ajax Wollop, finds a long lost map describing the location of Don A1onso's treasure. The treasure rightfully belongs to Diego, it is his only way to avoid bankruptcy. Elaine, Wallop's daughter, is in love with the stowaway-hero, Billy McNoodle. Her parents, however do not approve of this romance, After severaldisappointing failures, the treasure is found, and Billy claims Elaine as his own. Spanish atmosphere was added by the Spanish dancers, under the direction of Miss Janet Teichgraeber. I The vocal music department worked hard and produced many beautiful choruses. . The operetta is the supreme achievement for the music department every year, but the glee clubs and choir are active in producing a number of concerts and programs for assemblies.
