THE 1967 GUSHER August 31, 1966 June 2, 1967 presenting a very special year - 1966-67 yville High School Grayville, Illinois FOREWORD The 1967 GUSHER staff has worked very hard to produce a yearbook that you would enjoy not only this year but in future years. As you open this book, you will find mirrored in its pages the past school year. We have tried to capture the outstanding accomplishments, the fun-filled events, and the every day occurrences that have made 1966-67 a most unforgettable year. Producing the GUSHER has been at times difficult work, but I have been fortunate to have a hard-working staff, an industrious junior editor, and an advisor whose patience and diligence have helped me over the rough spots. The staff is proud to present to the students of Grayville High School the finished product. I hope that within these pages you will find something special that will never be forgotten. We give you the 1967 GUSHER. 2 Sally Short, Editor Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm. Enthusiastic is definitely the word which describes Miss Ver-nita Crawford, retired English teacher. Although retired, she is still quite active in the teaching profession at Grayville High School and in neighboring communities. As an expression of sincere appreciation for her patience and enthusiasm shown to us, we the Senior Class of 1967 wish to dedicate our yearbook to Miss Vernita Crawford. September 14, 1966 THE 1966 GUSHERS ARRIVE! Staff members Rita Sturm and Barbara Legg with Editor Sally Short and Jr. Editor Sally Ritchie Subscription Manager Marsha Stone prepares to check a receipt. Advisor Yvonne Pretzsch looks pleased. Mary Beth Johnston eagerly receives her GUSHER. I don't remember that! Lem'me Kiss Ya! Soup's On, Folks! You Say The Cleverest Things! I’ll Break Yer Neck, Slim! Nice Doggie, Rover! Aw Naw, You Tell! HOMECOMING ’ November 2, 1966 After several weeks of anxious waiting and promises of We ARE getting electric typewriters, the first large blue and white boxes of IBM Selectric Typewriters arrived. The first few days were hectic--not all the machines were here; everybody wanted to use one. Did any more come?” was the first question asked every day. But it was worth all the waiting --no more moving carriages; no more sticking keys; just a small globe-shaped element that skims across the page. Timing scores went up and none of us complain of tired fingers. The Fifth-hour Typing I class is all set for a demonstration by Mr. Ream. The shorthand students now have a chance to get extra practice with the new IBM EXECUTARY DICTATION EQUIPMENT.
