To the Faculty we will the memory of an outstanding, extraordinary, brilliant, courteous and quiet Class of '63. FROM OUR CLASS TO EACH OF THE ONCOMING SENIOR CLASSES. 58 f Class Prophecy This is the year of 1983, Mr. WarTen Miller of Grayville High School is organizing the second expedition of the Good Ship. He is trying to gather all of his students from way back in 1963. Let's follow him as he trys to round them up. First, he takes us to Hollywood. We go into the NBC television studio, we talk to Charlotte Belew the secretary, to see if we may see Jerry Pollard, the latest Mitch Miller. We find that he has had a sudden attack of appendicitis, and that they have rushed him to the hospital. We decided to go to the hospital to visit him. When we get there we find that he is on the 105th floor. As we got on the elevator, we noticed the elevator operator is an old friend, Larry Johnston. As he takes us to our floor he tells us that Larry Thomas is taking the place of Dr. Casey now as Dr. Casey is retiring. After we had visited Jerry, we talked to Dr. Thomas and learned what has caused Jerry's illness. He says that it seems that Jerry has taken a 50-mile-hike in memory of our past President, John F. Kennedy. We are amaed to find one of our former classmates, Janice White, has been the guide. We visited the White House in Washington, D.C. It is completely modernized now all all glass. This is so that Russia will know everything that is going on here. President Kenny Skiles wanted it that way. We find that Brenda Bryan is Vice-President Goldwater's personal secretary Wonder if she practices setting on the bosses' lap? We passed the offices of all the Armed Forces. As we look on the door we see Commander-In-Chief of the Air Force, Richard Ruckman. We stopped in to see Richard, a graduate from Grayville in '63. He tells us that Karen Lamont is still a nurse in the Air Force. As we walk on down the hall we stumble over another familiar name. George Graddy, Commander-In-Chief of the Marines. George tells us that the Army has been having a lot of trouble with a boy from our home town, Bob Spencer, who is really raising a fuss about becoming a drill sergeant. Nobody under 6'6r is allowed . . . And do you remember how tall Bob Spencer is? While we are in Washington we visit a newly formed department, the department of personal investigation. In this department they have electronic machines that keep track of every person that is a United States citizen. We dediced this will be the easiest way to find all of our classmates. We begin flipping through the cards. Yes, here are some of our classmates. 59 Martha Balding and Neal Eads are happily married. They are living on a reservation in Belmont Ellen Bellamey is working in Africa, trying to straighten out all the restless natives in the jungle. We find Kay Boxell's card and tell the man that she is married and is now named Rose. We also give him the latest information on her. She is working as a marriage counselor at old G.C.H.S. Next, we find Virginia Carpenter's card. On the bottom we notice a peculiar verse, something about Spring. Spring has sprung, fall has fallen, and WINTER'S here. Melvin Cowling has become the world's greatest failure in farming. He always waits until after the rain, then it rains too much and he can't plant his crops anyway. We think maybe this is just a good excuse. A new flower shop is being opened in Washington--Ely's Bloomers. It is run by Ben Ely formerly from Grayville. Bob Groff invested in stock and oil wells and finally has bought the inferior company, Standard Oil. In his off season he tries to keep the bench warm for the cardinals. There is heresay that he has a real sharp secretary, Nancy Schmittler. Tom Haywood has won world fame in debates, in other words arguments. He is second only to Stephen Douglas, but he is still talking. Mr. and Mrs. John Hodgson and Mrs. Mickey Riley Reid now own and operate the largest farm in the U.S. It is the only food supply left. Many of the girls in our class, we find, have settled down to early marriage and family. Included in this group are Linda Hodgson, Dorothy Houck, Judy Marse, Donna Perkins, and Billie Riley. Jim Pollard, also one of our former classmates, is still at old G.C.H.S. It seems he played hookey his Senior year and has to stay in every day. He is still serving his sentence as far as we know. Tom Horste and Rick Lingafelter are now famed players on the Globe Trotters. In their spare time they are teaching midgets how to cram during action in a game. 60 f Pam Johnson has been working as a cook in a restaurant, but has recently been fired. It seems that a recipe called for a pinch of salt and Pam added five tablespoons! Linda Lindley is now a well-fare worker in Alaska. She is teaching the Alaskans the correct way to kiss. Joe Martin, Devere Means, Randy Mosberger, and Jim Osbome are efficient candy salesmen now. They are still selling candy left over from the Senior Class in '63. Marietta Schmittler and Bernita Sturm are running their very own funeral parlor now. When business gets a little slow, they practice on Neal Eads, who is very talented in playing dead! Jerry Millar is living in the big town of Evansville now. He is a Physics teacher, following in his former teachers footsteps. He has finally learned not to act like a country hick. Linda Odom likes riding around in convertibles so well, that she has been doing it since her Senior year. Judy Roberts has taken the place of comedian, Carol Burnett, on the Gary Moore Show. Darris Wise is strongly tied with Marietta and Bernita. He helps them by singing at their funerals, both mock and real. His voice is getting both shrill and high, but the show must go on! Pat Walsh now has the biggest billard room in the world, and of course he is the worlds best player. Rita Wolf is styling hair for the latest has-beens, Mrs. John F. Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mrs. George Washington, and Dolly Madison. Nancy Maxwell is now a foreign service agent in Russia. We've found all of our classmates now, we must go home and eagerly await the expedition—see you on the moon! 61 rruRM FUNERAL HOME Our Aim is to be; Worthy of Your Friendship AMBULANCE SERVICE FUNERAL DIRECTOR Phone 375-3211 Grayville, Illinois bo u LLOYD SCHOEN HEIT TRUCK {. WHERE WASHINGTON SLEPT When the early settlers sailed up the Potomac in 1634, Father Andrew White Wrote: This is the sweetest and greatest river I have ever seen. It abounds with delicate springs which are our best drink. Our First President found the river equally pleasing. He made his home beside it, and used his influence to get Congress to locate the nations capital on it. But the Potomic is different now. Signs on the shores at Mt. Vernon warn sightseers to beware of polluted water! Senator Wayne Morse describes the Potomac as the dirtiest, filthiest river of its size in the world. That's how Washington takes care of its problems. Do you think they do any better job taking care of your business, your farm, your industry? Do you want them to louse up your schools for you? Would you like them to demoralize the Finest Medical system the world has to offer ? The Federal Government is Quite capable of making A Potomac River out of anything it touches.
