Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1962 volume:

GUSHER t 2 ALBERT FETGATTER GARY WILSON We the class of 1962 wish to dedicate this page to Gary and Albert. This little poem can't express the sorrow that was felt when Albert and Gary were killed in a terrible car wreck on June 18, 1962. Memories of these boys will live in our hearts and minds forever. To Gary and Albert with Friendship If anybody’s friend be dead. It’s sharpest of the theme The thinking how they walked alive, At such and such a time. Their costume, of a Sunday, Some manner of the hair, --A prank nobody knew but them, Lost, in the sepulchre. How warm they were on such a day: You almost feel the date, So short way off it seems; and now, They're centuries from that. 2 « GUSHER STAFF 3 Business Manager Mike Rawlinson Subscription Manager Nancy Orr Howard Ely Willard Bannon Melvin Cowling, President Arthur Burroughs Board of Education Ted Fisk Clyde Wilson James Orr, Sec. May 21 Senior Class of 1962 53 Signed by Class Prophecy ’62 We are now in the year of 1972 at our annual reunion of the members of the class of 1962. It is being held at the Howard Johnson Restaurant which replaced Madden's Drug Store when Anna Ashcraft married Howard Johnson III. We were informed that Mr. Mrs. J. C. Burroughs could not be here because they are plowing to get their crops in. Mrs. Burroughs is the former Dixie Johnston of Gray-ville who has graduated from Nursing School in Florida. We hear there is a great conflict between West Point and Annapolis concerning Keith Rose and Albert Fetgatter. Keith in the first year reached the rank of a 5-star general. Albert in the Navy is commander of the Battle Ship U. S. Grayville. Both of these honorable men are running for President in the coming election. Sally Funkhouser has expanded the Dairy Queen and herself. She is on a diet and has gotten down to 235 pounds. Tim Schroeder is now a heavy equipment operator and is clearing the jungle of India with his mighty cat-MEOW. David Robinson is driving a go-cart around Grayville with a nine foot two-way radio antenna mounted on his crash helmet. J. D. Hensiek is still chasing David in his go-cart trying to give him an ad for the Gusher which is several years too late. The new housing addition west of Grayville was started by Betty Ford, Linda James, Barbara Wells, Barbara Pollard and Carlotta Cochran. Barbara Pollard is a noted surgeon's wife. Linda helps out at Bradshaws once in a while and Betty is bookkeeper for A P in Fairfield. Diana Bevel, a stewardess for TWA has been visiting Eleanor Mc-Kechnie in Texas. Eleanor is going to college on an Air Force Base. Mary Hanisch is executive cook at Iglehart Bros, in Carmi. She helps Charlie feed the chickens from the Galaxie. Ruth Brown is famous in Hollywood. Rumors say her favorite poses are for the Before and After ads. Marvin Robinson is all up in the air. He is painting the Empire State Building. He sees Joe Hall Often. Joe flies to all parts of the world just to see his girls. Carolyn Williams finds out teaching her students to sew isn't an easy task. The second grade is learning how to write their name with the help of Miss Nancy Orr. We find Don Burroughs and Curtis Cox are ministers. Don teaches his people to love preacher's daughters and Curtis teaches his flock to love themselves. David Glover is coaching Jim Taylor and Mike Rawlingson to run a drag strip. Mr. Taylor might operate on some tires after attending medical school. Judy Means Marvel is a private nurse for Norman Dean and their eight children. Jerry Cummings is a commercial artist and is now married to one of our second grade teachers. He is drawing ADD illustrations for Esquire Magazine. Gary Wilson and Bob Leathers have been in the Air Force Basic Training for eight years. No one knows if it is true or not, but people say that all the rest of the USAF joined the Marines and let Wilson and Leathers have it all to themselves. Gosh, what's this world coming to? Steve Elliott runs the Sunbeam Bakery and Ideal Donut shops in Evansville. He took over the boss's job after marrying his daughter. Harold McCormick has been out eight years and is still unemployed. Guess he should start asking Regular or Ethel at shell again. After an enjoyable evening we say good bye till next time. 54 $PEITI4 $TUt IO CAMERA SHOP YOUR WEDDING-- Perfectly preserved for you in photographs throughout the years.
