Dowlen, Milba Morrison, Jerry Williams, Carolyn Miller, Jim Lamance, Jim DeFrange, and Gwen McCullough. Cosmetology ' Cosmetology is a clock-hour program in which each student is required to work 1,500 hours to graduate and be eligible to take the State Board ' Examination . Night courses in cosmetology were offered for X the first time this year in an effort to meet the 3 needs of more students in the community. V Included in the course is instruction in layer-cut- ting, blow-drying, manicuring, permanent wav- ing, and cosmetology training. The class has kept up with the present day fashion of curly hair in N Q, both long and short cuts. r Additional working stations were added in the classroom, making a total of thirty stations. This - - li allows the students to spend as much time as possi- , ble styling hair and gaining practical experience. The department made field trips to local beauty Izif salons, as well as a trip to Dallas. They sponsored a Valkha queen contestant and Western Week queen. 1 ' Mala Higgins practices styling techniques on fellow student. I . W. Dowlen.

Mike Burten. Mu Sigma Chi Mu Sigma Chi is a management club sponsored by the Mid-man- agement Association. It is affili- ated with the national Distributive Education Clubs of America CDECAJ and is the fifth largest in the state. The purpose of the club is to develop leadership potential and prepare for management con- tests on the state and national lev- els. Members attended classes in the morning and worked as manage- ment understudies in area stores in the afternoon. One of the club's projects is DECA Week during which they do advertising on campus. Members then participate in such contests as salesmanship and advertising at the state convention in Dallas. The club also participated in the Officers Convention and Clinic in Austin in October and sponsored a dance at the Silver Wings Club in November.
