First Annual Homecoming Gut first Homecoming celebration began at 7:50 Friday night, Oct. 24, with a snake dance and bonfire behind the school. Then came the big day! Saturday, Oct. 25, a huge parade of beautiful floats headed by the Grayslake American Legion Color Guard and the high school left the high school grounds and proceeded south on Lake Street and through the main business sec- tiong then continued east to the football field. During the half of the game two magnificent trophies were awarded to the best fioats entered in the parade. First place was taken by the Emerald, second honors went to the-Junior class. The climax was the afternoon's game. The Ram's emerged victorious by the crushing score of 25 0, The final event of the two days' celebration was f . the first annual homecoming dance given by the Pep Club. Rams Rendezvous was chosen as the theme to welcome last year's graduates. Alumni and guests were awed by our magnificent gym. At 10 o'clock the homecoming queen, Phyllis Kilman, was crowned by the captain of the football team for the afternoon's game. The Queen's enter- tainment consisted of a twirling routine presented by Sally jo and Gail Dene Nicholas, followed by an impersonation of Aljolson by Jack Quaadman. The alumnae contributed their rendition in har- mony, Let the Rest of the World Go By . Not to be outdone, the male faction proved they too had musical abilities and powers of entertainment, and offered several impromptu vocal numbers. The evening's Festivities closed at eleven, until Homecoming, 1948.
