Coming Gridiron Stars . his year's lightweight football teams have learned many fine points which will come out in next years varsity games. Although the record of this season is not too impressive the boys did a fine job in several games and Coach Stickles used some of them in spots in the varsity games. Thus giving these fellows the much needed experience which at the beginning of the season over half of them had only a spectator's knowledge ofthe game. Through their own willingness to work and report for practice regularly, they have developed into players of con- siderable promise. You will see them on the gridiron next year carrying on the spirit and deter- mination to win. ZION 20 .,............,..... GRAYSLAKE 0 The Rams played the best game of their schedule the hrst half but were overwhelmed by penalties and three breakaway runs to lose 20-0. The runs, 70, 54, and 40 yds, were the only flares of offense by either team. The Rams' line held the ZeeBees in their own territory the whole first half, but couldn't get started themselves. It was a very hard fought game on both sides but a heart-breaker to lose for the Rams. LEMONT 0 ,.......,....... GRAYSLAKE 25 In the first annual Homecoming game the Rams defeated Lemont 25-0. On fourth down the Indians punted to Schalk on the 40 who ran it into the end zone, but it was called back. The Rams marched to their first score with Winters going over. The point was missed. In the same quarter Snyder scored on a pass from Hitzman. In the third period the Rams held the Indians for 6 downs within the 5 yd. line. During the last period Burke smashed over from the five and also kicked the extra point. The next time the Rams had the ball Hitzman faded back to pass, found the field open and ran for a touchdown. Burke missed the point. The game ended with the Rams marching down the Held. This was the climax to the Homecoming celebration. LAKE GENEVA 19 .......... GRAYSLAKE 0 This game was a hard fought battle. Every time the green and white got within scoring territory a fumble or an intercepted pass stopped them. All three touchdowns were made on ground plays. Peterson blocked one extra point. Another was wide of the goal post and they passed for the third. WAUKEGAN RES. 38 ........ GRAYSLAKE 0 Last game of the year ended in disaster. On a cold, rainy, sleet and snowy day we were invaded by the Bulldogs of Waukegan. The bigger, heavier Bull- dogs smashed and battered the Rams line to pieces and scored repeatedly. The season came to a close with a record of three wins and five losses for the green and white. . . . AND DOWNS

If the teams needed anything from a bottle of Iodine to a little publicity, the coaches went out and dug some up. They spared no effort trying to build the best team possible. Our other smiling men behind the scenes are the managers, They are the ones who kept 'em rolling. If there was a job to be done, an errand to be run, an ankle taped, one had to ' ll f just ca or a manager and the job, no matter how small, was sure ro get done. Hats off to the men behind the scenes.
