Boger, Jr., we have lost an outstanding educator and school administrator. The loss is not entirely ours -- for the county and the state and the profession which was so dear to him will long remember his untiring efforts, his painstaking worlrand his supreme devotion to the cause of public education. The power and effect of his efforts to improve public edu- cation did not end with his pass- ing from our midst, and it is our conviction that the school children for years tovcome will reap the rewards of his labors and will move to the measure of this highstandard of values., His character, integrity, 'his devotion to right and his dis- taste of all that was wrong, his loyalty to his churcl. and its faith, his sympathetic under- standing and his wise counsel will be a challenge to allmen who devote themselves- to the cause of 'public education, pub- lic enlightenment, and good citizenship. In Memorzal S Mrs. Kathleen Redding Her hand reached out and Helped to guide the little ones. She really tried to help them Grow from day to day, More fit to walk Along 1ife's way. And though our dear teacher, Helper, and friend has walked on To her journey's end, Her memory lingers, long to glow Within the hearts who loved her so. 1 ,g . -l 4 I , , . LX ff. d re Irene Brady Ann Ellis 20 Pat Williamson J. W. Kirkrnan Class istory In the fallof 1950, 34 young, but willing to learn children, entered the first grade at Gray's Chapel School. Now, in the spring of 1962, that class is preparing to leave the protection of the Halls of Chapel . Of the original class 16 will be among the 28 graduates. We gained many friends, but we also lost some along the way. Some only added in numberg but others gave of themselves, leaving their mark in our class history and in many of our hearts. Soon we shall leave the place which has been our home for 12 years--12 years of joy, sadness, and success. We shall go our separate ways, some never to meet again. The Ha1ls of Chapel have sheltered us from many of Life 's storms. Now these halls will be removed, exposing us to the storms. But we are not worried. For while these halls were protecting us, we were learning to stand up against the blast of the storrn. We may fall a few tirnes, but only to rise again higher than before. Life is a challenge to each of us. We shall accept this challenge and shall come out as the winners. I, Gilbert Jarrell, leave my space in the library to anyone who can use it as much as I did. I, Fred Lineberry, will bus 40 to any future driver who thinks he can do a better job of hitting side ditches than I did. I, R. P. Routh, will bus 37 to anyone who thinks he can be on time every morning even thoughl seldom ever was. ' A I, Phillip Cox, will my superlative, Quietest , to Richard Kime. I, Phil Andrew, will my red hair to Mr. Thomas because it is better than nothing. . I, Jim Richardson, will my chemistry book to Mr. Thomas since Mrs. Morrow gave it to me by mistake. ' I, I. W. Kirkman, will my beat-up chemistry book to anyone with little enough sense to take it. 27 1 X m a r S Darell Beck Alease Craven seine., -1 -Q Junior Class Ojjicers President .... Vice-President .
