This and That We will expect a report for the '84 yearbook from George Morse and Tim Taylor on their summer 83 extra- vaganza through Europe with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Orchestra. Denise Harrington was nominated to participate but decided not to accompany the orchestra on their tour. Denise, however, will be at- tending the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp where she will concentrate on vocal music skills. Tricha Hahn will also attend the Blue Lake Camp for advanced training in ballet. Nancy Lemmen and the Spanish students won honors at both the Saginaw Valley College Foreign Language Day (November) and Foreign Language Day at C.M.U. (April) by winning 1st Place Honors in Spanish Dance, Song, and Display competitions. Three gals from G.H.S. will be attending the ‘83 session of Girls State at Central Michigan University. Felicia Galvani, Karla Dosch, and Shawn Lovely should come back as experts in state and national government. Tom Brooks, Paul Gust, and Dave Reynolds will be our Boys State representatives on the campus of Michi- gan State. Have you ever wondered why Boys State and Girls State aren’t held together on the same campus? The summer of ‘83 will also find Karla Dosch, Shawn Lovely, and Wayne Schoonover attending Operation Bentley at Olivet College. The government seminar is designed to involve students in community and political activities. Did you notice that this is a co educational program? While the computer lab received most publicity, our new television equipment was used effectively in the classroom, at fine arts and at most sporting events. Our’ thanks to the Weyerhaeuser Corporation for making this new equipment available to the students at G.H.S. The Forensics program never gained a lot of atten- tion during the school year, but 16 people were involved, and Brenda Prause and Dave Reynolds made the grade by qualifying for State Regional competition at Ferris State College in April. The group of students pictured with Robert J. Han- nan comprised the Journalism Class and through their efforts a couple of issues of the Grayling High Times appeared on campus during the ‘83 school year. Stephanie Hindmarsh will be touring Michigan during the summer of ‘83 with the Petoskey Dance Com- pany. The group specializes in jazz dance and is well recognized throughout the midwest.
