B TEAM UNDERSTUDIES VARSITY This year, t'he little Redmen who UNDERSTUDY our boys on the varsity, had a most successful season. With a squad of over forty freshmen and sophomores. they got off to a rather slow start, tying the Munising Colts in a scoreless contest. But it turned out that they were only picking up speed for the rest of the season. In a tilt with the Newberry Jayvees, the Bees came out on the long end of a 10-T tally. Two successive clashes with Ishpeming were next on the roster for the Little Reds. and they proved their wcirth by upsetting the Ishpeming Jayvees both times, 19-12, in the first game, 26-0 in the second tilt. St'ill on the beam, they upset the Manistique team for their last game of the season by a score of 25-6, James Berry was elected most valuable player by his teammates, and James MacDougall was named captain. When asked about the successful season, Coaches Brodie Westen and Jerry Pangrazzi replied t'hat it was due to the large number of boys and the enthusiasm displayed by them. Both coaches are hoping that a similar group will AUDITION again next year for the B-Squad. The Little Reds may be just UNDERSTUDIES now. but just you wait, Those boys are TONIORROVVS STARS. Maybe those arf- the be-st words with which to sum up the pur- pose of the- Student Council. but actually, it's a lot more than that. The Student Council dtzt-s many things for the students that the stu- dents donit' even know about. To be a member of the Student Council is one of the highest honors that a students classmates can bestow upon him and one of the greatest responsibilities. A Student Council representative might be likened to a congressman or a senator. Upon his shoulders is the responsibility of trying to make the srhool a better place to he. promoting student-teacher relations. and sponsoring social and edu- vational activities. This year. the orginixation held the U. P. Student Council Con- ference in Marquette from which a lot of valuable knowledge was gleaned. Try to imagine your school with no orientation program, no homz-coming parade and l'ostivit'ies. no sock hops. pep meetings, bake sale-sg no buses to out-ol'-town games, no annual skits, no yell fest, no Pt-p Jug.
