IMON GRATZ High School was opened in Seplember, l927, and dedicaled on Armislice Day, l928. Hs gray calhedral-like slruclure and high lowers are impressive. ll is buill of yellow-gray briclc and slyled aller English Golhic archileclure. Gralz accommodales 3500 lo 4000 sludenls. I+ is equipped for academic, commercial, mechanic arls, home economics, and induslrial course sfudenls. The building has a fine audilorium, library, gymnasiums, lunch rooms, and locker rooms. As we grew, we organized a Sludenl Government excellenl alhlelic learns, and a nolable school paper, The Spo'rligh'r. Our firsl' principal, Mr. J. Elwood Calhoun, served unlil his dealh in l938. Under Dr. E. Carl Werner, our presenl principal, 'rhe school has conlinued 'ro grow, developing a friendly and cooperalive spiril.
