AFTER due reverie and reflection, the staff has selected America as the theme for this Record Book. We have tried to show how our country with its traditions, accomplish- ments, and great promises for the future, has influenced the student. We have observed and hope that we have been able to record the fact that our thoughts, activities, and aspirations have been happier and brighter because we are Americans. Today, fires of freedom across the sea glow but faintly, and America alone stands free and peaceful-the beacon light of liberty. We have studied and seen and felt all that has been bequeathed to us, the great heritage of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that is now our duty to carry onward. x
