This organization is under the supervi- sion of Mr. Underwood and is made up of 15 students. f' I Red Cross Council Under the supervision of Mrs. Reid this group has taken a great interest in the affairs of the Red Cross. They have taken a trip to a conference in Sacramento and filled gift boxes for the people of European countries. fQ Lab Assistants Under the direction of Mr. Snipe and Mr. Underwood these 8 students are of great help to the school, and teachers. They assist the biology and science classes by correcting papers, keeping the books in order and mak- ing out tests. With their help in these duties it gives the teachers more time for organi- zation of class assignments and other neces- sary details. rw gg, 95,512 5525 m '-h--..,.. Directed by Mr. Stevens they have given numerous radio programs and assemblies. They spon- sored a dance, the Mardi Gras, and had a Wiener roast for the members. Their class has proven that students can hold their own in radio work and plays along with the older generation, and deserve a great deal of credit for their work. Advanced Chorus Under the direction of Mr. George the Advanced Chorus was one of the outstanding features of the school during the term. They attended the Sierra Foothill Music Festival in May, r:oving their fine talents, and performed at a concert in Auburn, again showing that they are a worthwhile class. String Quartet These four students displayed great talent during the term. They played for several assemblies and performed for the Rotary Club at a luncheon. The members are, left to right: Betty Campbell, Rena Boynton, Katherine Wayne, and George Boynton. The quartet is accompanied by john Cron at the piano. 4 .- ..., e.,,.,,,,,m,1 m 'ln Outstanding Students Shown here are a group of students that have done outstanding work for the shool during the year. Their fine work for the drill team and majorettes will long be remembered as among the very best the school has seen. The leader for the year was Carol Underwood, who did a good job in directing the corps. Yell Leuklggs Truly outstanding were the yell leaders for the year. T-hey gave the cheering section the pep needed to give our teams the go-ahead they had. There were new yells learned and old ones done over to seem new. Left to right they are: Bob Rice, Betty Waddelow and Hobart Smith. Maioreffes With the large group of eleven, this year's majorettes did a hne job of entertaining. They demonstrated a routine of fancy steps and fast twirling that was worth watching closely. The head majorettes were Barbara Wood and Beverly Patterson. Boys' Letter Awards Shown here are a few of the boys that received their letters this year. A special assembly was held to give out the letters that the boys had worked so hard to earn. GARDNER GAA As the year comes to a close the GAA can look back on a very successful term. They accomplished a great deal this year. Best of all were their annual Haymakers Ball and the GAA senior banquet. They sponsored several playdays with other schools, had a dance after a game, and had concessions at other games. First semester ofhcers were: President, Helene Glikog Vice President, Dot Wright, Secretary, Maxine Smith, Treasurer, Barbara Green. Second semester: President, Barbara Green, Vice President, Virginia Abasg Secretary, Betty Smithg Treasurer, Nina Hooper. This organization is under the supervision of Miss Gardner. Q' T B.DoMI1'R0v1TCH D. WRIGHT H, GUKO D, GARDNER Drill Team The Grass Valley Drill Team was really something to be proud of this year. They kept the crowd following their every movement during their fine precision marching. This was partly due to the fine leaders they had for the year. Beverly Domitrovitch was the head leader, assisted by Dot Wright and Helene Gliko. Their advisor is Miss Gardner. 58 A Q, 1 'BQWSS Mifihlfl Q .iJP'lLf!f cy 53 'l B fi. -lui? sux .
