The first school building was erected in l856 at an ex- pense of five thousand dollars and was pleasantly located on School Street. The ground contained about four acres. B. J. Welch was the principal. The number on the school roll was fifty five. COur High School today has nearly five hundred.7 The early graduating classes ranged from five to twelve, ascompared with this year's class of about ninety five. The following are some of the graduates from Lincoln High School, at this early date: Anna Conlin, Maggie Kelleher, Amanda Van Orden, Laura Freeman, Agnes Curtis, W. J. Freeman, M. H. Argall, Wm. Stevens, Richard J. An- drews, John Mulroy. Many others of its graduates have contributed to the growth of this community. .
