ll-70 REWO RD The staff has endeavored to make this edition of STRAY LEAVES an interesting and valuable record of high school activities for the year, 1928. The theme of the book centers around the American Indian for two reasons: first, because of the general favor that Indian symbols have been receiving in textiles, books, decorations, and in practically every phase of art this year. The Indian motif was chosen because it is especially adapted to this section of the country. The country in and about Nevada County is rich in Indian folk lore, legends, and picturesque spots having Indian names. 'The art 'classes and members of the staff have captured bits of these romantic pictures and legends thus contributing toward making the book of value to others besides those to whom it is a chronicle of past joys. To the business men and people of the corn- munity who have made this book a possibility Grass Valley High School wishes to ex ress its sincere gratitude and hopes that this edition of STRAY LEAVES may afford its readers both knowl- edge and pleasure.
