As young people who will become leaders of tomorrow, we need to realize that now, only the future is important. Just as some roads are unmarked and rough, so are many pathways in life. However, if a goal is kept in mind, there is no difficulty that cannot be surmounted. We mirror here the roadmaps, blueprints, and PROFILES to our future. 7aS e of (jon en s ADMINISTRATION 9-14 HIGH SCHOOL 15-156 Faculty 17 Seniors 21 Juniors 35 Sophomores 41 Favorites 47 Student Life 93 Athletics 139 JUNIOR HIGH 157-190 Faculty 159 Classes 161 Student Life 173 CANNON 191-220 Faculty 193 Classes 195 COLLEY VILLE 221-235 Faculty 223 Classes 224 CAMPUS EMPLOYEES 237 FINIS 239 Dear 7 Trs. Cotvfin, As we were thinking about our years in high school, memories of all we had done came into view. Through our old annuals we were reminded of the futures that you helped form, the spirit with which you entered into the planning of school activities, and the many additional hours you devoted to the annual. Y ou promoted a school spirit by sponsoring a school newspaper, originating the Most Beautiful and Most Handsome Contest and by training Interscholastic League competitors. Behind all school activities one could always find your support. Every teacher has not only a knowledge of his subject matter but also an understanding of those with whom he must cope. We felt that you had the desire to aid in the forming of a backbone from which to build the future of many of Grapevine’s students. This you have demonstrated through your business department. Besides giving your best to your business classes, you gave of all your extra time as well as yourself most willingly to the sponsoring of the MUSTANG. Even though most do not realize what goes into the making of a yearbook, your annual staff will always remember the long hours spent in working toward the deadlines. We shall never forget the moments of laughter that relieved the long hours of tension and worry. With these thoughts, we proudly dedicate the 1966 GRAPEV1NEMUSTANG —our best—to you, Mrs. Tom Jane Nowlin. THE 1966 ANNUAL STAFF 8 MR. BOB POWERS President MR. DALE HUTCHISON Vice-Pres. MR. We never realized that it took so many people and operations to produce a single page. It takes approximately five to eight hours for a page to go through complete preparation at the plant. Students interested in joining the new FTA Chapter were screened by members of the faculty to determine each student’s qualifications for membership. These qualifications include physical vitality, mental vigor, moral discrimination, a wholesome personality, helpfulness, knowledge, and leadership. The purposes of this organization are: (1) To learn about the teaching profession, its opportunities, responsibilities, and its important role in our democracy. (2) To explore our own interest and abilities in relation to the various fields of teaching. (3) To cultivate in ourselves the high character and leadership which are essential in good teachers. (4) To learn how and where teachers receive their preparation, the cost, the scholarships available, the number of years required, and the certification requirements and standards. (5) To study the lives and the influence of great teachers. The Grapevine FTA Chapter received, for the first time, a charter from the National Education Association to be renewed each year the club is present in our school. Activities of the FTA included studying advantages of student loan programs, observing classes in session, putting up bulletin boards once a month, distributing toys for tots at Christmas, and attending the State Convention. Above all the previously listed purposes the Future Teachers of America should be recognized as an organiza-98 tion interested in further developing the educational facilities in Texas.___________________________ Sharon Huffman reads the latest Treasurer’s report. It is the sacrifice, devotion and strength of an individual. It is concern, enthusiasm and blind loyalty. Six people kindled its fire at GHS. These six people bore their marks of leadership and dedication with the G’s” and megaphones of Mustang cheerleaders. 7Jep Gfuf) JiacTs Titus tanys Mary Ann sparger, club president, and Roger Hardin, head cheerleader, discuss plans for the Homecoming pep rally. Elected by unanimous vote, Wiley Hokett, was the first beau to be awarded a Pep Club Sweater and a season’s pass to the games. Provided free transportation on the Pep Club bus and being his usual self, Wiley helped everyone get in good spirits for the game. The officers for this year were: Vice-President, Brenda Nobles; Secretary, Mary Liz Ezell; and Reporter, Hilda Adams. Decorating bleachers making posters, getting bus lists, and buying sweaters and pins constituted a successful year for the club. ■W f Ou I (Ji r JlCustciny (Spin !
