GRANVILLE HIGH SCHOOL RODFO The Granville Htgh School Carmval Rodeo was presented October l 1948 The evening s entertalnment was ln western style Bucklng bronchos and desert sagebrush made a characterlstlc settmg for the program which conslsted of Western numbers The aud1tor1um was decorated mn appz-opr1ate autumn colors red yellow brown and gold Booths of many slzes and shapes lined the sides of the gym and a large bmgo stand occupxed the center of the floor There was a baseball throw ftsh pond novelty booth candy booth votlng booth chance booth rmg the goose booth mouse booth ring the bell booth and a ball throw The Home Economlcs classes served lunch In a modern styled covered wagon The re1gn1ng fashlon of the evenlng was western costumes wlth red bandanas a must Penaltles could not be avolded lf one was found bandana less Door prlzes won were a Sunbeam Mlxmaster the adult prme by Mrs Walter Thrana a Philco table model radlo the Juvenlle prve by Arland Mrs Lou1se Erlandson and a large panda bear by Allen Frey Wilson Serlght was lucky ringer of the goose At midnight Corinne Loftesnes the Sophomore candldate was crowned queen of the Rodeo by last year s queen Lovetta W1dmayer Her attendants were the other three candidates Elizabeth Overgaard Freshman jeanne Vogel junior andjanet Cox Semor KEMPENIE S MAGIC SHOW On October Z9 1948 Kempenle the mag1c1an and h1s wxfe presented themr varied program of magic trlcks and tllustons Trlcks of all kinds were presented and their final number was a feat of the1r own mventlon which they clalmed could not be duplicated or explalned by the unlmtxated Mrs Kempenle was first tled unto a large black sack and then lowered lnto a box whxch had been padlocked together by two men from the audience The cover was then placed on the box and padlocked In a few muuutes Mrs Kempeme had escaped and when the box was opened by these men Kempeme himself was t1ed ln the sack 31 Mueller.
