CLASS PR OPHEC Y It IS May 26 1959 and everyone IS gathered in the Granvllle School Audltormm for graduatlon servlces Standmg lh one corner of the auditorlum is a group of dxstlngulshed looknng people talkmg rapidly as possxble before the services start It IS the class of 49 together for the flrst tlme in ten years and they are very busy trymg to catch up on what everyone has been domg But thelr conversatlon ms cut short by the prelude muslc and the graduates marchlng down the aisle Everyone stralns forward to see the guest speaker who flew down from Washington to speak at th1s great occasxon It IS our North Dakota Senator joseph L Lund Wlth htm IS Beverley Hanson the President s prlvate secretary who will also speak on Slttmg on the Presldent s Lap After the applause dies down Mr Wlllard Thom president of the school board mtroduces przma donna M1ldred Aarnes who on a short vnsxt to her parental home from New York sings for us Crawford s Melody tn Z Flat While she IS sxngmg we glance around at the other students of the class of 49 S1tt1ng up in front so neat and trim IS janet Cox owner of the Cute Cox Fashion Shoppe in Towner North Dakota Next to her IS AnnaBelle Balley who although walttng for the return of her soldler boy hasn t lost her g1ggle Two rows behmd them szt joan Crawford and Violet Kmzell two successful busmess women from Florlda lookxng very chic mn their upsweeps and four inch heels Behind them ms Mrs jtm Rtchards the former Marjeanne Mueller who IS kept busy trymg to qunet her twins jun and T1m and baby Marge Close to the back are two prosperous gentlemen whispering about thelr latest cattle shipments These gentlemen are Gordon Erlandson and Donald De1bler owners of the G Bar E. and Double Bar D ranches Across from them slts a petite little blond basking in the glory of the success of her latest night club The Macombo m Hollywood This IS LoVetta W1dmayer owner of all Hollywood s famous restaurants She is havlng quite a tlme tryxng to see around the broad shoulders of the man tn front of her She doesn t recognme hlm as one of her old classmates swwel hlpped Howard I-I1lls the only football player with thirty touchdowns to his credit He IS vacatlomng untxl football season starts as then he w1ll resume h1s posttmon as backfielder wnth the Mxchmgan team that he made famous Our attention is dwerted by a noise In the back of the audntorlum All heads turn just ln tlme to see Mrs Leland Harmon Evelyn Boutxher run after her energetlc young son We fund that Evelyn has settled down and IS raxsmg a family 1n Portland Oregon She has returned to Granvxlle for the class reunlon Helping her wlth the fam1ly IS joyce Harmon secretary to Ernest Tubb who is here on vacat1on from her Job 1n Nashville Tennessee Havmg heard that her former heart throb IS here from the Un1vers1ty of M1ch1gan Thus happy reumon of the class of 49 as certainly bemg enjoyed by every one Fond memories exciting experiences and plans for the future seem to be the mam conversatlon as the txme of parting draws near we hear plans bemg made for a second reumon 1n the year 1969 18 1 1 . . , . . . - 1 1 o 1 . . . . , . . . , , ' ll ' ' ' I 9' 1 - I 1 1 1 0 u 1 - 11 1 1 f , . . . . .
