They appear- ed in their new uniforms, black jumpers and white blouses, a few months after school started. They also held a cheer- leading clinic and practiced after school almost every night. Whenever we played other schools, our girls acted as host- esses and served refreshments to the visiting cheerleaders. Usually before big games they put on pep assemblies where they boosted our ego andtaughtusnew cheers. And we can't forget the entertaining skits they performed for us. Every year brings celebrations, class projects, and traditions which add to the classroom aspect of student life and also bring us closer to our mostimportant goal, grad- uation. As freshmen we experience for the first time student government in action. We begin to realize thatwe will have to set the examples for future classes to follow. In our sophomore year we are into the swing of things and look forward to celebrations such as pigtailday when we can display our cleverness and originality and outdo those upperclassmen. Our junior year introduces some of the aspects of deeper learning. We are faced with our first major term paper and the library becomes one of our closest friends. Senior year is one of mixed emotions. lreparing for D graduation, our thoughts are mostly ofventuring into the world as adults but walking down the aisle we will look back on these eventful years and realize that we will miss this type of life we have grown so accustom- ed to. XZ 3 Senior class olllcers, left to right: I,yni1-Ioerrcs, Treasurer: Charon Cltudv, Secretary: Carl Kupersinith, Vice-Presidentg and Iohn Rousseau, President. Seniors: quiet times and serious moments napa As graduation draws near students are measured for their caps and gowns. 82 The Class of '62 has followed the tradition of previous senior classes in being student leaders. The class has set an example of loyalty and hard work for their successors to follow. They showed this by winning the March of Dimes contest this winter. This year has been a very busy one for the seniors. On November 1, having been handi- capped by less than two months of preparation, the class held their Senior Ball, Canadian Sun- set. One of the final projects ofthe class of '62 was the senior class play, Deadly Ernest. Many hours of work were spent in preparing forit and it was an experience never to be forgotten by the seniors who participated. Lavender and white have been chosen as the class colors. The class flower is thegardenia and the class song is Memories Are Made of This. The seniors are planning to enter various types of work, schools, and careers upon their graduation on june 7, and we hope they will take with them their class motto, Out of school life into life's school. Junior class activities were underway belbre school reopened. The class sponsored the Harvest Moon Dance, welcoming all undergraduates back for the 1961-62 school year. Profits from concession stand sales at athletic events was another tribute to the dynamic salesmanship of the juniors. With the intention of making their prom the greatest in Granville High's history, preparations were begun in early November. Island Paradise was the theme which was carried out in Hawaiian motif. The post prom, held at Tripoli Country Club, featured a Luau to continue the gay mood of the promgoers. Examples set by the Class of '63 will serve to inspire the many classes to follow. junior class officers left to right: President Kenneth Selesky, Vice- president Carol Voss, Secretary Lynn Scheir and Treasurer Karen H ays. ittt junior.Fund raising projects helped bolster class treasury. 04 X Z.. y , P., LL L . ye f , K NL 1- vm., , K L, Q, k ,L 3 , 2 Z 'P ff: I K lv- qs- L ,D ' Ng - as N E Ly PB!! Vice-President, Terry Ball, Presi- dent, Connie llerbst, Secretary, and Sandy Krueger, Treasurer, The class '64, under the leadership of Terry Ball, President, Bob Anderson, Vice-President, Sandy Krueger, Treasurer, and Connie Herbst, Secretary, began their Sophomore year in high gear and kept right on rolling after that. We entered a spirited pure Arabian stallion in the Homecoming parade and would have captured first place had it not been for the fact that the judges discovered the this stallion was only a costume-shop imitation with two of the Soph C1ass's finest concealed inside. Other acti- vities included the Thanksgiving dance, a doughnut sale, and one of the most swinging dances held at GHS in years, the Twisting 60's . All the twisted sacroiliacs still haven't been straightened out from that one! W X is x X, .aw if 7 I8 Sadie llawkins' llilllCC proves to he ll new experience lor Freslnnen. Frosh learn through new experiences In the fall of '61 over 300 Freshmen descended on Granville High School to discover what secrets lay in its many classrooms. This, the largest class in Granville's history, became known for its quality as well as quantity. Academically, we consistently placed the names of many freshmen on the Honor Roll and our extra- curricular efforts were 'recognized throughout the school. According to many comments, our jingle Bell Rock was one of the high lights of the year. Under the direction of our conscientious officers the class of '65 gladly accepted the challenge offered by the upper classmen and we will continue working to maintain the high standards of our school. We usually think of school as strictly an institution of learning and seldom realizethe numerous facets of school life within these halls. Throughoutthis Falcon our staffhas tried to express this variety, and we hope that this yearbook will bring lasting memories to the student body, expecially the seniors. Without the conscientious help of Mr. Wiegele and the Photo Club many ofour deadlines would not have been made, and many features ofthe annual would be lacking. We thank them for their understanding and patience. We also wish to thank Mr. Phil LaLeike of the Norman King Company for his assistance and advice, and our photographers from Walinger Studio of Chicago. 128 1 , I 1 ff? ff W W EY If 'g-fx :U -.I Q - ' JJ f f ..
