page twenty he enior froplzecg QFrom the Newark Advocate, May 28, 19555 Last evening, May 27, 1955, the Class of 1950 held its fifth annual reunion. The dinner was served in the Granville Inn at 7:00 o'clock. After a delicious meal, which was prepared by Audrey Billman, a varied program was presented by some of the talented graduates of 1950. This program featured a dance routine by Wilma Hannahs and operatic selections from the forth-coming debut of Joanne Hutchins. After the performance of the above mentioned girls, Mary Lou Williams showed us the lighter side of the arts by presenting a sketch of her own comedy show which is broad- casted nightly except Saturdays and Sundays over WCLT. Harriett Wells expressed the appreciation of the entire group by her estatic giggling after each joke. The spot light then turned on Carol Lantz and her orchestra featuring Carol on the violin. The re- mainder of the evening was devoted to a social gathering, which lasted until the wee hours of the morning. During this time many people were in for surprises, for example who would think that our own Bob Simross was the coach at Granville High School and that the Sammy Phillips was employed by the school as a full time mechanic to keep the driver training car in running condition. It seems that Bob has lost some of his best games due to the fact that the referee was Don Carlyle. During the course of the evening's chatter it was discovered that Dick Glover came all the way from Canada where he operates a fur trading post for the Dominion. We also found that Herbert Breymaier and John Lantz are joint operators of the Sally Jones Plantation, and that Mary Ellen Quick is in charge of their racing stables. It seems though you just can't beat them --they've won the Kentucky Derby for three consecutive years. Turn- ing for a moment to the fashion world, we learn that Joyce Bennett is now a. leading dress designer in New York and that Jessie Hodges is a fashionable hair stylist. It was also revealed that Marilyn Hiles is still trying to discover a newer and easier method of bleaching hair. ln checking up on the old familiar history class it was found that Martin Saunders is the Mayor of Granville. Alice Hutchins has progressed to the U. S. Am- bassadorship in Great Britian with Bruce Schilling heading her staff in the foreign service as a consulting lawyer. Two of the late arrivals were Jack l..eFevre and Ralph Young. Jack immediately announced that he has perfected a new drug soon to be marketed that was guaranteed to put pounds on anyone. Jack, as you must know, is one of the busy young physicians in the village. Ralph, whose chief interest still is in athletics, stopped over to attend the banquet while on a scouting trip as head trainer for the next world Olympic meet. A welcame break in the evening came when Rachel Collins kindly consented to play Onward Granville on her French Horn. Lela Piper was so inspired by the rendition, that she grabbed the nearest broom and quite forgetting herself in reveries of her high school position as head drum majorette. threw it
