Swim There is a soft balmy breeze blowing through the open French windows of the spacious dining room. The candles flicker a little and cast weird shadows of the people standing around the room. The indirect lighting gives the room a quiet homey at- mosphere. Everyone seems to be very happy. They are chatting and laughing gaily as they go from place to place in the room talking to their friends. The tables are set with the finest of silver and china on soft white linens for this special occasion. As I glance at the list of R.S.V.P.'s there are several refusals which catch my eye. One couple will be very con- spicuous by their absence. They are Mr. and Mrs. Dimick QPhyllis Proleyj who have just won a rocket ship trip to Mars for guessing the identity of the Galloping Gal, who is in real life Miss Emma Posey. The hostess on the air ship is Miss Mary Lees. Also absent is Mr. john Grant, who was eaten by savages in the Fiji Island when his aircraft carrier was shipwrecked. Poor John-I guess they had fresh meat the first day, cold meat the next, then hash, then soup from the bones. The only other absentee is Tom Kier, who has taken over the job of Nature Boy and is hiding away in the Catskill Mountains. In the far corner I see Miss Marlene Borror, who is now president of the Ladies Farmer's Association of America. It is really progressing. Coming this way is jim White, organizer of the F .B.I. CFat Boyls Institute.j We have also in our midst the editor of Esquire, Miss Florence Hollingworth. With her is her star photog- rapher, jack Ott. Sales have increased 150 per cent since he was hired. Standing a few feet away, I see Miss Nancy Parker talking to Jim Hood and john Brown. john is Mayor of Bexley and jim is Governor of Texas. Miss Parker is owner of a reducing salon. Their mot- to is If not satisfied, come back and let us try againf, Someone has joined them. It's Miss jo-Ann Workman, who is buyer for the Dilly Dilly Do Da Style Center, situated in Squadunk, Nebraska. Here come Jean Briggs and Leabelle Shomaker, who run a modeling school in which they teach girls how to model half and half styles all at once. They got the idea from Lux ads. Across the room, I see Richard Ingle, who is manager of the Hawaiian branch of Kresge's stores situated in Hono- lulu. Mr. Dick Jester just walked in the door. He is successor to Walter Winchell. He uses a Dick Tracy wrist watch with built-in television and an ouija board for predicting events to come. Mr. Reese Sutton is on his first vacation back to the United States since he became U.S. Ambassador to Mesopotania.
