So at this time it is fitting that we should pay recognition to the men who keep school life moving, and making various activ- ities successful. The first is Mr. Martin, who always has a helping hand and a ready smile for all of us. The second of these gentlemen is Mr. Smith who is doing a grand job in his first year as principal. H rr Swim There is a soft balmy breeze blowing through the open French windows of the spacious dining room. The candles flicker a little and cast weird shadows of the people standing around the room. The indirect lighting gives the room a quiet homey at- mosphere. Everyone seems to be very happy. They are chatting and laughing gaily as they go from place to place in the room talking to their friends. The tables are set with the finest of silver and china on soft white linens for this special occasion. As I glance at the list of R.S.V.P.'s there are several refusals which catch my eye. One couple will be very con- spicuous by their absence. They are Mr. and Mrs. Dimick QPhyllis Proleyj who have just won a rocket ship trip to Mars for guessing the identity of the Galloping Gal, who is in real life Miss Emma Posey. The hostess on the air ship is Miss Mary Lees. Also absent is Mr. john Grant, who was eaten by savages in the Fiji Island when his aircraft carrier was shipwrecked. Poor John-I guess they had fresh meat the first day, cold meat the next, then hash, then soup from the bones. The only other absentee is Tom Kier, who has taken over the job of Nature Boy and is hiding away in the Catskill Mountains. In the far corner I see Miss Marlene Borror, who is now president of the Ladies Farmer's Association of America. It is really progressing. Coming this way is jim White, organizer of the F .B.I. CFat Boyls Institute.j We have also in our midst the editor of Esquire, Miss Florence Hollingworth. With her is her star photog- rapher, jack Ott. Sales have increased 150 per cent since he was hired. Standing a few feet away, I see Miss Nancy Parker talking to Jim Hood and john Brown. john is Mayor of Bexley and jim is Governor of Texas. Miss Parker is owner of a reducing salon. Their mot- to is If not satisfied, come back and let us try againf, Someone has joined them. It's Miss jo-Ann Workman, who is buyer for the Dilly Dilly Do Da Style Center, situated in Squadunk, Nebraska. Here come Jean Briggs and Leabelle Shomaker, who run a modeling school in which they teach girls how to model half and half styles all at once. They got the idea from Lux ads. Across the room, I see Richard Ingle, who is manager of the Hawaiian branch of Kresge's stores situated in Hono- lulu. Mr. Dick Jester just walked in the door. He is successor to Walter Winchell. He uses a Dick Tracy wrist watch with built-in television and an ouija board for predicting events to come. Mr. Reese Sutton is on his first vacation back to the United States since he became U.S. Ambassador to Mesopotania. Hawken? Mr. Eddie Volz came with him back to the states after playing his drums for the Maharaja of Magadore and he is still trying to put those Dry Bones together. CLost: one skeletonj. Another who had a salt water trip home was Frank Gosnell who has been teaching plowing in Timbucktoo. Also with us tonight is the originator of the Happy Hunting Croundsv club, Miss Jo-Ann Arter. She wrote to the Lonely Heartsv club and got so many replies she took her pick and along with her partner, Miss Frances Kirkendall, started a club of their own. We have several prominent business personal- ities comparing their occupations in an obscure corner. Mr. Alan Loucks is a famous hair dresser. His motto is Better locks when you go to Loucksf, Another is Jim Posey who owns his own perfume com- pany. His motto is If want to smell pretty when now is the hour, the right perfume will be made by 'Flowerif' The only feminine per- son of the business world is Miss Phyllis Carpenter who owns the Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear Corporation. You've all heard of the famous lady wrestler, fm sure. Well, Miss Carolyn Showman is another member of the class. Her manager, Earl Francis joseph Raymond Jones C Curlyv for short? is also a G.H.S. ,49 alumnus. This is an especially important occasion for Mr. Richard Case Miller, who has just today passed his bar test and was promoted from a plain Dick', to a criminal lawyer. Mr. Bob Moreland has become head of the Movie Censor Board of Ohio. Since his appointment, a profusion of western movies have flooded Ohio theaters. Miss Dawn Williamson is now conducting a speech correction clinic in New York. An exclusive hat designer is Pat Rolt-Wheeler. C Patty Carnegiei' trade name.D The former junior Rifle Champion of the class of ,49 was George Richard Horton. That experience gave him good reference, because now he is the judge of the annual pea shoot- ing contests. This gala affair is going to be broadcast now by our able Hollywood gossip reporter, Miss Louella Parsons Hodges. 7ke S WL!! We, the Class of 1949, do hereby give our last will and testament. On November 18 and 19, the junior class presented their annual play. This year, they chose a comedy: What A Life by Clifford Cold- smith. This play is built around the scrapes and struggles of Henry Aldrich and his best girl, Barbara Pearson. The play afforded many laughs as well as a good share of tense moments. It is the story of any high school student who is just getting adjusted and can't quite get into the swing of things. All's Well that ends well, though and our minds were eased as Henry emerged happily with the help of the sympathetic assistant principal. The entire play takes place in the princi- ple's office over a period of two days. This Page Sponsored by Ma. AND MRS. RAY I.
