One bright morning in September of 1952, 110 new Freshmen began their career at Granville High School. The first few days, of course, were spent roaming the halls in search of the right classrooms. QA characteristic common to most Freshman classes.J At our first class meeting we started off on the right foot, with Mrs. Pauquette and Mr. Porter as our class advisors, by electing the following class officers: Presi- dent, Mary Tatkog Vice President, Jim Browng Secretary, Dave MacConnellg and Treasurer, Pat Stewart. Many of the members of our class were getting adjusted to their new environ- ment by joining different clubs and organizations. In their freshman year Jack Evans and Joe Ponda were playing on the ,I.V. basketball team. The year passed very quickly, but by .lune.we were all ready for our summer vacation. The following September, one year nearer our goal, saw fewer of the same students start their Sophomore year. Our shyness was gone and with a certainty .- austin' of purpose, we arranged our classes and were off to a year of work and fun. The officers elected to serve for the year were: President, Mike 0'Brieng Vice President, Dave MacConnellg Secretary, Marge Clark, and Treasurer, Sally Andrus. The ability of many of our members was evident by our representation in cheer- leading, basketball, baseball, and football. When September rolled around again, we began to feel the pride of being upper- classmen, but the day when we would be Seniors still seemed a long way off. How- ever, it wasn't all glory because we had a busy year ahead of us. For our class officers we elected: President, Mike 0'Brieng Vice President, Dave MacConnell, Secretary, Sally Andrus, and Treasurer, Joyce Burch. This year we find six members of our class going to the County Music Festival and two to the State Music Festival. Harold Sheeler made quite a name for himself by winning the American Legion oratorical contest. During the last half of the year we sold candy, greeting cards, and wrapping paper to help with the expenses of next year. We all enjoyed our annual Junior-Senior Prom, especially since we had Garry Stevens' orchestra. The gym was decorated to represent the theme Melody of Love. We ended the year with our class picnic at Lake St. Cathrine. At last we were Seniors! We knew that this would be our most enjoyable year even though it would also be our busiest. This year our class officers were: Presi- dent, Mike O'Brieng Vice President, Sally Andrus, Secretary, ,lane Ladasky, and Treasurer, Ann McLellan. We began to raise money for our yearbook as soon as possible by selling maga- zines, candy, greeting cards, and coke. Our dramatic production for the year was Time Out for Ginger. As it turned out, the play was a tremendous success. Actually, though, we think the most fun was had at the rehearsals. Harold Sheeler is again progressing in the oratorical contest, and will soon com- pete in the Area District Contest, and Washington County Contest. Plans will soon be started for our prom, and we hope it will be as successful as last year's. Everyone of us is looking forward with great anticipation to that important day in the near future when we will graduate. We know that our four years at Granville High has done much to prepare us for what lies ahead, and that we have all benefited in many ways from our four years at Granville High. We wish to extend our best wishes to all the underclassmen who will be following in our footsteps a few short years from now, and we sincerely hope that they have as much fun and enjoyment, as well as a sense of accomplishment, that we derived from our days at G.H.S.
