GRANTSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BAND Due to the great marching and playing ability, the Grmus ville High School Band is rapidly becoming one of the prize winning high school units in Maryland Since its beginning November 12, l9h8, the Ll piece unit has made 200 public ap pearances and received over 32000 in prizes and awards One of the highlights in the development of the band was its appearance 1n the Army Day Parade at Pittsburgh, April 9, l9L8 During the same year an invitation was accepted to represent the University of Maryland at the Maryland West Vir ginia football game which was played at Morgantown, West Vir ginia In 1950 the privilege was again extended to them Becoming almost an annual affair, is the Tri State Band Festival, Martinsburg, West Virginia, in which representatives from the Grantsville Band have taken part for the past two gears Representatives chosen were Robert Railey, Jane Bow man, Donna Yommer, Robert Beachy, Millie Bittinger, Shirley Kamp, and Shirley Representatives also in l9L7, l9b8, and 19b9. been discontinued.
