Contributing her judgment and understanding to the girls of Grants Pass High School is the Dean of Girls, Bertha Calhoun. In addition to conferring with the girls concerning their problems, Miss Cal- houn finds time to work in the office, help with schedules and advise Girls' League. Miss Calhoun, in the following words, shows her interest in you, as a student. As education is re- ceiving a greater emphasis throughout the world, it becomes increasingly important to us at Grants Pass High School. I am confident that you can and will meet the needs of these times. It is my wish that I may do everything possible to help each of you in achieving your goals. DEANS EXPRESS CONFIDENCE IN SPACE AGE STUDENTS Personal, school and community adjustment of the student falls in the province of James Keith, Dean of Boys. Better known as Tuffy to his colleagues and pupils, Mr. Keith is engaged in helping solve per- sonal problems, acting as a disciplinarian, advising Boys' Federation and giving information as to col- lege entrance and military service. His confidence in the capabilities of youth is ex- pressed by these words. It has been my privilege to be a member of the faculty of Grants Pass High School for the past twenty years. Because of this experience, the advent of Sputnik has not made me pessimistic. I feel our teenagers are prepared to answer life's challenges, either at home or abroad. A072426

During the day frustrated students or wanting teachers always find the janitors ready and willing to lend a helping hand. If it were not for these men, neatness and order would not prevail to a desired degree. I9
