Her job is very demanding in tact, energy and understanding. She must blend en- thusiasm with mature judgement. She gets in a king-sized day as she counsels youngsters, collaborates with par- ents, works on records, changes schedules and hears teacher complaints. The dean also helps girls plan careers, select colleges and gain employment. Miss Calhoun, a former geography teacher, has been in the system for 32 years and in her present position for 3 years. She lives with her invalided mother and devotes most of her spare time to this noble cause.
