The name of the play was nOur Hearts were Young and Gay.H lt was a three act comedy which took place in the early twenties. The play concerned the sparkling and exuberant escapades of two delightful girls, Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough who were determined to prove how mature and cosmopolitan they could be on an uproarious and charming trip to Europe. fflfj Miss Shirley Boicken was chosen from the Senior Class as the D. A. R. representative fran Grant Park. The pur- pose of this project is to build youthful character and to call attention to those qualities which are desirable in good citizenship. Dependability, service, leadership and patriotim are the qualities upon which the award is based. During Shir1ey's four years at Grant, she has been in the band, 1 year, dance band, 1 year, Chorus, h yeareg G. A, A., 2 years, F. I-I. A., 3 years, parliamentarian 3, historian hg librarian, 14 years, junior-editor of the Grantonian her junior yeargassociate-editor of the Year- book her senior yearg Press Club, 1 year, and supporting roles in both the junior and senior class plays. th February 20, a tea was held in honor of the girls who won the award throughout the county at the new addi- tion of the Governor Sma11's Memorial, Kankakee. Sxirley was eligible to attend a meeting at the Drake Hotel, Chicago, March 9. S1ir1ey's plans for the future are indefinite. 42
