Peggy Carstensen Last summer I lived with the Limpach family in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. My family consists of my father, a policeman, my mother, a housewife, and my sister, a student. We made many trips during my stay in Europe. The country was beautiful and it was a fabulous experience actually living with and learning about the people of another country. I only hope that when my sister Fran-cine comes to America, she will be able to take home as many wonderful memories of the United States, as I was able to bring back from Europe. Alberto Jimeno When I left Peru, I was very excited. I am very thankful to all the people who have made my trip possible, particularly my American parents Dr. and Mrs. Donald E. Walther, who have taken the most outstanding care of me. In about four months, I am leaving Portland after a wonderful, short year. I know I am going to miss it. I wish I could do it over again, but there is something that is said: The best things only happen once. My greatest hope now is to come back and see all my friends again. 27

Mike Dole Burgdorf, Switzerland is an old and interesting town. I was most fortunate to have been able to spend most of my senior year there. It was most interesting to be able to compare our way of life with another. Most of the 12,000 people in Burgdorf spoke German, but a good many also spoke French or Italian or both. I skiied at Mt. St. Moritz, milked goats, climbed alps, saw a man play an alp horn, picked Edelweiss, visited several castles, and generally had the time of my life! It was a most exciting year. Exchange Students Elke Sinram Only one short year ago, I had no idea where my new home would be. And now I am on the other side of the world, spending my time in a wonderful community. It is a great honor for me to be a member of Grant's student body. It is definitely not only the senior class pin which will remind me of your school. Soon I have to leave the United States, looking back on a year which was filled with many wonderful experiences. Although I will miss everything, I know I will come back one day to visit America again. 26
