Spring Executive Council f l Prcsldcnt John Bcldecnscvt It has been said that education has four major aims, that of vitality, courage, sensitivity, and in- telligence. The first is the energy and perseverance which makes possible the experience of education it- selfg the second is the strength of character which allows man to face up to the challenge of an ideag the third is that miracle-balance which judges the intensity of an experienceg the fourth and final aim is the acquisition of, and knowledge itself. To what extent have we taken part in such an education? Our school system has perhaps come the closest of all the modern school systems in the world to this particular proposal. We have made progress but much remains for ours and future generations to accomplish. An entire change of attitude will not be easy nor very probable. However, a mind unfettered by the bonds of a particular belief or dogma is a fertile mind, one which is capable of comprehending sucha change. Let us begin by entering into the world of ideas with the purpose of finding meaning in life and ul- timately imparting our scholarship and enthusiasm to other generations. This is the mark of civilization and the educated man.
